The Dark Knight Rises Trailer! Real or Fake?

"The storm is coming!" Could they be talking about a two year storm of fan made videos? A teaser trailer for The Dark Knight Rises has made its way online, but all signs point to this being a really good fake. What called our attention to its authenticity, though, is the fact that it was shot pirate-style inside a movie theater, and there is a cheering audience. Are we hearing real people show their enthusiasm for this highly anticipated DC Comics adventure, or is it canned excitement from a Garage Band sound effect? Check out the video below and decide for yourself...Is this real or is it fake?

The Dark Knight Rises comes to theaters July 20th, 2012 and stars Liam Neeson, Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, Aidan Gillen, Marion Cotillard. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

So, then that's when the trailer will most likely be released on then, which would be 370 days before The Dark Knight Rises is released to theaters. Also, it would the teaser trailer for the Dark Knight Rises, because no full trailer is released that soon before a movie before, or at least i think that that's happened before, has it ?

    1. The MPAA warning says "The Following Preview Has Been Approved For All Audiences." In April of 2009 they changed that to "The Following Preview Has Been Approved For Appropriate Audiences."

    2. The WB/Legendary Pictures logos were ripped from a Clash of the Titans trailer. You can see that here on Movieweb (the 2nd trailer) at about the 0:36 mark.

    3. The footage of the bats is taken from BBC's Life series, in particular the part about the world's largest gathering of fruit bats. You can see it for yourself on Youtube between the 0:55 and 1:02 mark.

    4. When this trailer was originally put on the net, it was said to be seen before Green Lantern. Now, nothing has been confirmed, but it is widely believed that the actual trailer will not be released until part 2 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Its a good fake but if it were real it would be all over the interwebs. You know this. Every news outlet would have it and i havnt seen or heard a peep.

@jayaottley cant wait...but you mean metaphorically I've seen the TDKR teaser trailer and that isn't it. (as it hasn't been created as of yet) usually its released under the dates of DECEMBER/January as was the last film, same date points and credit and promotional dates!

I thought it was official, but some clever sod has used the sound reactions to his uses cleverly, and very thoughtfully!

that is fake, I should know. I've seen the TDKR teaser trailer and that isn't it. Because the real TDKR teaser ends with he line that every one wants to hear.

Also the teaser will be attached to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt.2

@thedude1 Yeah, I know what the word means. It just doesn't make sense to say something is approved for "appropriate" audiences. Obviously, everything is approved for appropriate audiences; that's common sense. The MPAA is a bunch of morons.

PS, it also fits the style of the teaser trailer for The Dark Knight, and I'm hearing from my theater contacts locally this is attached to run with Harry Potter next month. We shall see.

This looks legit to me. This would also keep in line with the timing of the teaser trailer for The Dark Knight, which was roughly a year before it's release.

  23. JasonKat

After seeing this clip over & over again, its pretty much FAKE..... A homemade teaser at sumbody's home on their projector/screen., Look at how fast it says " the storm is coming to Gotham" rather than a slow telling. it would be more realistic quoting "A storm".....(follow by a 10 sec pause) "is coming" (another 10sec pause) '2012" and then a batman logo. Gotham is the wrong word. And then ontop of that they slap u on the face putting "The Dark Knight Rises" which doesnt look right.

    11 months agoby @jasonkatFlag

  24. Moviedude21

I'd say real. It's a simple little teaser to maintain the interest for the movie next year.

  29. metalhead_925

It looks legit. Mostly. The only thing that runbs me the wrong way is, if it is real, why was there no more press about it? If it preceeds a movie like "The Green Lantern" wouldn't we have heard about before now?

  30. MS1945

i thinks its fake, the whole thing was really cliche with the whole "the storm is coming". compare it to the dark knight teaser. This didnt seem like the films style
