The Dark Knight Rises looks to shoot in the Turda Salt Mines
Nolan and the film's producers have met with city officials to discuss technical issues. The director has eyed Bucharest's historical center, Edgar Quinet Street, and the Palace of Parliament as possible shooting locations. Nolan has also visited the Turda salt mines in northwestern Romania with hopes of shooting there.
The mayor of Turda called Nolan's visit "unofficial", but confirmed that the director's stay did involve scouting for the future project.
The Dark Knight Rises comes to theaters July 20th, 2012 and stars Liam Neeson, Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, Aidan Gillen, Marion Cotillard. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

I'm still 100% sure that the bane thing is a mislead, Bane does not fit the story ( I'm not saying is impossible, if it is true Nolan is the guy to pull it off). Nolan realized that every body had already an idea about who the villains are going to be, and he didn't like that. If he could make the movie without having to make a trailer to keep fans wondering he would. Another point would be, that when TDK came out they didn't make a video game from the movie, but they did made BATMAN ARKHAM ASYLUM the joker was the main villain... What a coincidence????. Now on the new game BATMAN ARKHAM CITY , it seems that Hugo Strange is the main bad guy. Changing the subject with this article, it makes me wonder about Anne being Catwoman. I would rather see her as Talia Al Ghul than Catwoman, it would be a great continuation from BATMAN BEGINS, This locations would give the mysterious look to the movie that the Al Ghul family usually has.
Or maybe I'm just going insane, and making up excuses to myself at the fact that neither Hugo nor Talia would make it in this last chapter of The Dark Knight!

A Romania setting probably paves the way for Talia to surface. Bane is international, but more in Central America than Europe.

I greatly doubt Nolan will utilize the "back breaker" story arc for this film. More or less he may use it metaphorically, in the sense of psychologically breaking Batman. Typically Nolan's films have a deep psychological battle between the main players involved. Tom Hardy, like Health Ledger, is capable of being very intimidating on the screen if given the opportunity, which I believe Nolan is about to grant the actor.

I can see what you mean by Bane being international. LOL Seriously, what I'm thinking is either 2 things: this is either going to make a good place for film just in terms of looks and feel, or... wait for it... wait for it... Since Hatheway is going to play Catwoman, and BB and TDK uses many elemets from Long Halloween, the possibilities of including Catwoman: When In Rome. And with that, a possible return for Tom Wilkinson as Carmine Falcone. ;)

"When I was reading this I was thinking if Christopher Nolan's ending to The Dark Knight Rises ends with Bruce Wayne in bed due to a broken back it would be a fitting ending to his trilogy an opens it up to other directors to do Batman without Bruce Wayne as batman and then maybe Christopher Nolan coming back to it years on down the road with Bruce Wayne back in the suit again! I think that would be really cool!"
