@ChiRep-1 I missed out on seeing TDK in IMAX so I made up for it by seeing TF2, Star Trek, Avatar, Iron Man 2, and Deathly Hallows Part 2 in IMAX

@ChiRep-1 Batman vs 12 police cars i would pretty much call that an opening to remember.
The film takes off pretty much where TDK leaves off which is how i know the beginning of the opening is fairly correct.
Despite i don't know what comes after that, from what i heard it's a Bane intro. But honestly heart on your hand and soul as a fan of Nolan and Batman.
Do you believe Nolan would break Batman's back in the first 6 minutes of TDKR?

This worked to hype up The Dark Knight, I can see they are going with what works. They also released the first 6 minutes of TDK in '08.

@ROFLitschristian Meh, it's not THAT much more, just hold off on the Sno Caps and you're fine hah.
The last movie I saw in IMAX was Inception which was fantastic of course, most midnight shows I catch I try to watch in IMAX since I don't see movies nearly as much as I used to.. But from what I remember about The Dark Knight it was pretty awesome in IMAX but who knows, I'm biased hah.

@ChiRep-1 Not my fault! IMAX is expensive! I'm still bumed I missed Deathly Hallows in IMAX!
I've also heard The Dark Knight wasn't all that fancy in IMAX.

@newtron It's not really WB's fault, it's the IMAX corporation that is selling their brand name out to any movie theater willing to install larger screens and promote them as "IMAX" screens.
They're still better than the regular movie experience because you do get amazing sound and a slightly bigger screen, just not "dome" big.

@ChiRep-1 Well the chase part is correct but not the latter part and honesty do you believe Nolan would do such a dramatic climax in the opening of the film and usually comicbookmovie.com is a site for fanboys wet dreams.
I've seen the opening so i know the chase part is correct and note how would Bane know that crucial detail on Bats

@ROFLitschristian You have held out for much too long my friend. Not seeing The Dark Knight in IMAX is a crime.

@jayaottley Its pretty safe to assume that its speculation, but that doesn't mean the fanboy inside all of us can't hope for a prologue this epic ;)
@thrashnasty190 comicbookmovie.com had a MUCH better description, my palms were literally sweating I could feel the suspense and tension through the words lol.

I still want to lose my IMAX virginity to The Dark Knight Rises so I'll have to pass on this, or wait for it to show up on Youtube.

@felipe-11: That's very interesting. If what you say is true, then that sounds like a money scam, and in my opinion, a sorry marketing move on the part of WB.

@fanboy@newtron That's exactly right, and everyone here is cheering on about this news but I don't think they realize that most of them WON'T see the Prologue, simply because most of the IMAX theaters around today are the digital "fake IMAX" (Google IMAX vs LIE-MAX and you'll see all the debate and info on this).
Mostly only museums and aquariums have the large "dome-sized" 70mm IMAX, and half of them won't even play MI:GP, they only play doc*mentaries like Hubble 3D, that sort of thing.
Here in Washington DC there's like 7 or 8 "IMAX" screens but only three are the real 70mm dome ones (they're at the Air and Space Museums and Natural History Museum), and they only rarely play feature-films on these. They definitely won't be playing MI:GP...
So correct me if I'm wrong, but most of us won't be seeing the prologue even if we do pay that $17 "IMAX" ticket...

i hope we get info about what the footage will even be
can they put Bane in the prologue already?
because i figure they will tune up Bane's voice in post-production
so it doesn't sound like it did at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh

@newtron 70mm IMAX is acutal film not digital. Many theaters now have so called "IMAX" screens but really they are just bigger movie screens with digital projectors with the name IMAX thrown on them. While true IMAX theaters acutally have the full 70mm projector equipment not just reagualr digital, so it looks like only "true" IMAX theaters will be getting this. But thats just my guess, dont hold me on that :P

On the one hand this is cool, but on the other I wouldn't pay high IMAX prices for MI4.

@ChiRep-1 That's pretty inaccurate, i'm guessing this is a fan speculating. even though the opening of TDKR does continue off where TDK left off

So, what's the difference between 70mm IMAX and digital IMAX? Can someone answer this for the technologically ignorant who wish to learn more? :D
