The Dark Knight Rises could be Christian Bale's last time as Batman
"The thing is that this will be, I believe, unless Chris (Nolan) says different, this will be the last time I'm playing Batman."
The actor also revealed that he doesn't believe any of the rumors or speculation about casting when it comes to The Dark Knight Rises, unless his director tells him personally:
"Until Chris (Nolan) tells me, I don't believe it. It's gotta be from his mouth, or else I don't really know."
The Dark Knight Rises will start shooting in April 2011 and we'll be sure to keep you posted with any further details on this highly-anticipated sequel as soon as we have more information.
The Dark Knight Rises comes to theaters July 20th, 2012 and stars Liam Neeson, Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, Aidan Gillen, Marion Cotillard. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

Kinda saw this coming from the Article about TDKR being the last Batman Film that Nolan does. Let's just hope TDKR will blow our collective brains' out!

Christian Bale is the sh*t, and if he doesn't do anymore BATMAN movies it will be a shame... I do hope that Nolan comes back for another trilogy with Bale.

It can't reboot. As reboot means another direction then the only way is if Batman becomes Roy Battyman and takes out the bad guys with a machette or goes the other way , pardon the pun, and is exceptionally camp and takes them out with a hair straightener............

now i love this, loyalty right to the end and i don't blame them if you carry on something to long you just loose the spark it had in the beginning
Final Destination and Saw come to mind
well after thinking about it they never had it to begin with, but you get the point

Everything comes to an end. Its best to end on a trilogy. Not all trilogy's are faultless, but Nolans Batman has the potential to be one of the best. If you try to carry on & on with any character, you can destroy all the good work & story that went before. Indiana jones, Star Wars jump to mind.
Its good to hear, that like me & others on this site, that Bale doesn't belive the rumour mill. Hopefully Nolan will give us clear details soon. & Hopefully he will make this one of the greatest trilogy's of all time.

I find it hilarious that @jasonkat assumed that because Bale decided to be Batman in a movie it means he's somehow obligated to the fans to be Batman for the rest of his life.
Bale and Nolan announced from the start that they only had intention of doing a trilogy. Who really gives a flying fig if they have to reboot Batman after The Dark Knight Rises? That's still going to leave a great trilogy you can take home and put on your shelf. If someone else wants to come in and carry out their vision with the Batman universe, then that's cool. If it sucks, it sucks, and you're not obligated to watch or enjoy it. But it doesn't negate the movies that came before or after it.
Nolan wanted to tell a story and he did. Asking either person for more when their hearts aren't in it is just asking for them to turn out a second-rate product. Besides, recasting a character in a completely different iteration is not necessarily a reboot. They've been doing that with James Bond for decades, and no one cares. You can use the same character to tell various stories. You don't always need unnecessary internal continuity between films that have nothing to do with each other.

im not saying he cant or wont b getting other roles, anybody can get other roles, hell u can even make other movies while still sticking to batman, or watever role ur on. look at Robert Downey Jr...and his iron man, he's made other films. its not like u have to quite to start making other movies. Harrison Ford, has been making other movies other than his indy/jones films. Same witth Shia LaBeouf's transformers. The point is...Will we have another reboot after batman 3? or will sumbody carry on from there? and lets hope the rest of the cast..stays other wise this whole new thing is gonna b hard to follow, atleast for lil kids it will.

If the next movie is as good or better then Dark Knight, and it makes about as much you best believe the WB will throw all the money in the world at getting Nolan and Bale back for a 4th movie... Id like to see them do 6 myself.. I think it would be neat to have them do an entire 6 part saga.

@Bawnianxyz "getting preps for flash, trying to bring back the WW project"
We will see when WB (in the joint venture with DC) decides to finally release the info on the upcoming DC films that they've promised us all year round but have not delivered upon (the latest being "sometime before year's end"). As of yet, they have not announced nor confirmed anything regarding a Wonder Woman film.

it doesnt mean he's an idiot @JasonKat. Bale just wants to do other things. Bale's a GREAt actor. he'll have no trouble at all getting roles

BALE'S an idiot, if he wants out of this most famous role ever! I really don't care if Nolan part-ways but why should bale? i mean, There we go again. we'r gonna have diff batmans all over again. Why cant actors just stick to their roles? i mean in the 80s u didnt see 10 diff freddy krueger, did u? The guy played freddy his whole life until the last1 (b4 the remake) Superman's actor played superman 3 films b4 he passed away. look at todays movies, spiderman = 3 films then POOF... Fantastic four = 2 then POOF ..superman returns BLAH 1. now they wanna reboot the bbitch.. So...batman 3 and its over? And Nolan ...wtf is he doing walking away from a big paycheck? With talent like his, he makes big bucks, sum other lame director will kill to get his hands on this . and 100% sure he'll fuk up the franchise. I swear i hated val kilmer as batman, omg that was stupidest thing i ever saw.then it got worst for part 4. So i really dunno wat happenes next but i will lose faith in batman onces again. like i did after "batman returns"

@Sues, lol. Thanks? I wasn't trying to school him, I was simply trying to say that he should open up to what he considers unoriginal films.
@Dave, no offense man. If I didn't say something, it would show I didn't care about both the films, or your view of them, which I care about quite a lot. Just saying you should open up a bit more. We can't be hard-assed critics all the time (notice the "all the time" before you respond). Lol.

@Diaigma, I agree with you on Kingsley.
@Bawn, It does not matter what we think the obvious path is, because Warner Bros. has released a statement that they have no intention of linking their heroes the way Marvel has. I'd love to see it, you'd love to see it, many others would as well. However, WB does not, at least for now. It's just something we have to deal with.

@J_A_OTTLEY...I always thought Ben Foster wouldve made a good replacement for the Joker, hes capable of pulling of serious, dark, creepy caharcters, as see in 30 Days Of Night and Hostage, so i could see him to playing an obsessive, manipulitive and still creepy Hugo Stange

Good. Don't wear out the success of this franchise. Batman shouldn't be touched again after 2012 for at least a decade.
