Take a look as the Bat Signal shines big and bright over Gotham City.

TDKR IMAX Poster

While making the 2008 blockbuster The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan was the first filmmaker to use IMAX® cameras in a major motion picture release. In the highly anticipated IMAX release of The The Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan employed the extremely high-resolution cameras even more extensively. The film will include more than an hour of footage shot with IMAX cameras - breaking the record for the most IMAX footage ever used in a feature film. These specific sequences, which will expand to fill the entire screen exclusively in IMAX will deliver unprecedented crispness and clarity and a truly immersive experience for moviegoers.

The Dark Knight Rises was released July 20th, 2012 and stars Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Liam Neeson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman, Marion Cotillard, Morgan Freeman. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

I think this should be the dvd box art. It is so much better than the awful picture of Batman leaning out over a view of buildings crumbling straight down.

@cheetoboy You couldn't figure out what he was standing on before? If you look at the bottom of the title "The Dark Knight Rises" on the bottom of the poster, there is the top of a high rise building shown there, That is what he's standing on.

sigh. Why are the posters for TDKR so dumb? I liked the posters for TDK but not the ones for TDKR.

@narrator More like God is a fan of Bats and decided to part the clouds in his favor

That's the same reason I like it, @skywise. Handsome devils think alike after all. ;)

Also, for those of you who can't see what he's standing on, Batman is standing on a building's peak. Probably that thing that lets aerial vehicles know where not to go, not dissimilar to the pose we saw him taking in the trailer. It's hard to see because of how busy the bottom is.

I like the storm clouds parting in the shape of a bat. That's NOT the bat sign, but rather a random and even less logical clearing in the storm. Nonetheless, it signifies Bat's rise and counteracts the darkness of the poster, and that's good enough for me.

Lol someone in the design department has a really, really poor sense of perspective. The logo in the sky doesn't match the perspective of the city below, at all. Not to mention Batman is just floating there in mid-air. This is lazy work.
