The Dark Knight Rises takes in $25 million from pre-sales
Fandango also reports that this franchise finale is accounting for a massive 91% of their ticket sales for Thursday, with MovieTickets.com reporting that The Dark Knight Rises accounts for 87.5% of their Thursday sales.
This blockbuster-to-be will be rolled out in 3,700 theaters nationwide for midnight screenings, with several theaters planning on holding screenings throughout the wee hours of the morning. It will open in 4,404 North American theaters tomorrow, the second-widest opening in cinematic history, just 64 theaters behind record-holder The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1.
The real question is can The Dark Knight Rises best Marvel's The Avengers' seemingly-insurmountable three-day record of $207.4 million? We will find out on Sunday when the official box office numbers are released.
The Dark Knight Rises was released July 20th, 2012 and stars Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Liam Neeson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman, Marion Cotillard, Morgan Freeman. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

@jasdjqs I'm talking about quality of film! f*ck the box office! This truly is a much better film! The story is much richer! It deserves to beat the crap out of Avengers

Avengers has not open in Japan (August) so that movie still is going to make money even after it's Blue ray release. Batman has a chance to beat the box office record Avengers made earlier this year but will Dark Knight Rises have a stong Third, Forth week? Too early to tell but you never know.

@mbrandon11@mcleve02 Agreed. Avengers reached more people and had a shorter runtime. But hey, I doubt "EVERYONE" saw it at the theaters. But like I said, the numbers are now the least of anyone's worries.

@mbrandon11 Haha nice... quite the dark fellow, such as myself! Yeah, but Batman has had that sort of hidden audience for awhile. Especially after the Dark Knight came out, and Nolan attached that name to Inception which itself a hit. People have now established his films as epic, and I think that will be a big deciding factor

@mcleve02 I dunno - HUGE fan base as big as the Avengers and reaches to a wider audience.... tough one for sure.... we shall see. From what i hear though it delivers!

@mcleve02 haha nah fair play to you mate. When you come out of the theatre i'll just be settling in with my popcorn and all the dead people lying around me that i killed coz they were making too much noise during the previews. ;)

@mbrandon11 technically too early to say. We have to see the movie before we can make that call. But it definitely has the potential to!

They should be sepereated. Ticket sales vs total gross earned. TDKR will beat Avatar on ticket sales i reckon HOWEVER Avatar and Avengers had 3D propping up every single ticket sold i.e. 5 tickets for them would be the cost of 8 DKR tickets. Good luck to Batman in all departments. Legendary series! Best Trilogy of all time??? Thoughts?
