Rachel Weisz and Natalie Portman may be up for a role in The Dark Knight Rises
There will be two female leads in the sequel, one of which will be the new love interest for Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne, and the other of which will be a villain. No offers are out yet, although director Christopher Nolan is planning on meeting with all of these actresses at some point in the coming weeks.
Two of the names that weren't mentioned in the story are Charlize Theron and Vera Farmiga. We reported last week that Charlize Theron is up for the role of Detective Sarah Essen and that Vera Farmiga had auditioned for Julie Madison, which will be the love-interest role for Bruce Wayne.
We'll be sure to keep you posted as soon as an official casting announcement is made.
The Dark Knight Rises comes to theaters July 20th, 2012 and stars Liam Neeson, Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, Aidan Gillen, Marion Cotillard. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

I quoted myself wrong when I said about the Joker. What i ment, that we all had the Joker as a guy who fell in chemicals that changed his face, into a clown like apperence. That was the story, set in stone. Nolan took his own take on the Joker, Maybe he could adapt a unrealistic villain into a relistic world. Thats what i was getting at.
But i i'm sure either way, Nolan will get the villain right.

@ejk1....lets just hope this trilogy ends on a good note, n not like Spider-man3....damn what a horrible thought, lets just trust and see what nolan comes up with, hes yet to dissapoint, and im sure hes smarter then to clusterf*ck this movie

Nolan hasn't said one damn thing yet about who the villain or love interest yet. It kind of pisses me off. If all these reports are true about bringing in all of these actresses, or if Tom Hardy will be the main villain, or Bullock, or whomever, I wish he'd just come clean. I don't get all the secrecy. I remember all of the secrecy surrounding who Topher Grace and Thomas Hayden Church were playing in Spider-Man 3. No one was allowed to say who they were playing throughout the entire filming process. You know what else I remember about Spider-Man3? That it wasn't good. Nolan should avoid any parallels he can with that film.

...Sorry, i was just speaking for movies sake, since theyll be two leading ladies in the film, one a villian one a love interest, one has to be there to do batman harm physically, who better to fit the film role then Thalia after wat happened to Ra' in Begins, she may resent and blame bats for what happened to her father, but still hold an affection towards
As for Catwoman true, shes never tried to actually kill Batman, but they do have there disagreements on their views of justice and crime, and have gotten into fights cuz of it, though selina could still play bruces love interest in the film, she could still be somewhat of an adversary to his batman, and could still hurt him emotionally when he finds out who she is and knows they can never be, and if they could, it would be hard to make it work...

Well, regardless of speculation, most of these actresses being eyed are A. Much easier on the eyes then Holmes and Maggie are, and B. Could act circles around them as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, was bout to say, neither of them want him dead. Catwoman is, for the record, an anti-hero now, NOT a villain.

Catwoman hasn't tried to kill Batman in years. She has known Bruce Wayne is Batman since 2002or 03. And Talia probably won't try to kill Bruce either. It would take the essence of her character away. She is in love with Bruce, she doesn't want to kill him.

That's some dreamy casting right there, @bane5000.

Go with Rachel Weisz for Thalia and Marion Cottilard as Catwoman, two females in Bruce life, one trying to kill him for what happened to her father, and the other thats in love with him...and still trying to kill him as batman :D

Love both of those women! Whoever they choose as the Villain, make it something original! Choose a Villain that no one would expect but would still hold his/her own.

If Rachel Weisz is gunning for a part, it's gotta be Talia. I mean, look at her. She looks perfect for that role!

yes there was speculation that Marion Cotillard was being considered since she worked with nolan in Inception. This is a very well hand picked prospects I believe NOlan will have the right ladies for the film :)

@bane5000 I would enjoy Marion Cotillard as Catwoman. Makes sense, too, as they've worked together already now.

@Everyone
Nolan actually has a book, on how to make ever villain fit into his universe for Batman..... I'm guessing his going to go with Thalia as someone stated it makes a full circle trilogy, and well Hush seems logical because it makes it a more personal battle for Bruce/Bat,am

Since no Catwoman is suppose to be in this atleast that was what was initially said, Penguin also but again initially said I'm thinking Talia Al Ghul as the villain. Any Takers? Oh and for the other main guy villain it will probably be Black Mask. Though Killer Kroc would be awesome!

@HAPPYJACK Out of all the villains you could think of, Joker is actually one of the easier ones to adapt. Now if you had said Clayface or something, then yeah, you'd have a strong point. How he made Joker work was simple and elegant.

I would like to see Croc it could be done easy... just NO Riddler and NO CATWOMEN ! One of the women could be the daughter of Raz

@HAPPYJACK - of course The Joker would fit. We're talking about villains like Croc, Poison Ivy, and Mr. Freeze, who had some weird Marvel-esque mutation happen to them.

Talia makes sense and that really would bring the trilogy full circle. But i also think that Catwoman is a pretty strong contender after the death of ....his girl. I have the faith!
