In related news, this month's Rolling Stone magazine features an in-depth look at Bane (Tom Hardy) and his costume.

Christopher Nolan on Bane's uniform.
"Bane dresses in Military fashion. He leads a band of fanatical mercenaries who have done all kinds of horrible things and end up in Gotham. One of the influences on the script was Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities, and with this overcoat, we wanted to infuse the romanticism of the French Revolution mixed with the World War II functionality. The essence of Bane is military power and brute force combine with revolutionary fervor.
Costume designer Lindy Hemming combined modern military gear with more old-fashioned materials like leather to give Bane's outfit the utilitarian, proactive quality he needs. He's always ready to fight."

The director also talked about the functionality of Bane's mask.
"Bane is someone ravaged by pain from a trauma suffered long ago. And the mask dispenses a type of anesthetic that keeps his pain jus below he threshold so he can function. The fearsomeness of intent and intelligence Hardy conveys just through his eyes is dazzling. But we've taken one of the most distinctive mouths in the movie business and covered it up for the entire film."
The Dark Knight Rises was released July 20th, 2012 and stars Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Liam Neeson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman, Marion Cotillard, Morgan Freeman. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

@thedude-abides -- Indeed. They look like fan-made posters, almost.

I can't see Anne Hathaway being a bad a** at all. She just doesn't have that Catwoman flare.

@empath86@thedude-abides@ROFLitschristian@dark-env The thing is these aren't theatrical posters, these are the posters they sell at your local bookstore next to the Justin Bieber posters, videogame posters, etc. You're not gonna see these in a theater.
That being said, @incmob is right, we've only gotten two real theatrical posters so far (the falling building and the crushed Batman mask), and the viral marketing has been very weak, nothing compared to TDK (best marketing of 2008).
Like I said in another article, Prometheus has had by far the best marketing this year.

Posters aren't very good, but then again that's just not the style of posters I find interesting.
I wish they would stop trying to make Catwoman sexy. In order for that to work, it has to come naturally, not forced. If she is, she is. If she's not, well at least we'll get a badass in a leather outfit.

posters are nothing special, looks like these are for kids which honestly let's face it, this is not a kids movie, market it for your target audience

@thedude-abides agreed. have not been very happy about the marketing of TDKR.

@empath86 They look like cheap Valentine's cards or bad video game loading screens. They're just nothing special in my opinion.

i think banes mask and costume are bad ass, the posters are alright, the batman one is nothing special. the costume gives off a militant/revolutionary vibe, which i think is really cool.
