The Dark Knight Rises considers adding Robin?
Much fan speculation has been placed on which character the recently cast Joseph Gordon-Levitt will play in The Dark Knight Rises. While some think he may be gearing up to appear as Robin, others believe that he is too old for the part.
Today, Michigan television station WILX revealed some interesting information in regards to the location scouting Christopher Nolan has been doing in the area. Here is what they had to say:
"Grand Ledge is no Gotham City. That may not stop the latest {FIuUsvxzprOoyw||Batman] sequel from coming to the community.
According to Eaton County and Grand Ledge officials who didn't want to be identified due to confidentiality agreements, production crews from "The Dark Knight Rises" scouted locations in Grand Ledge's Fitzgerald Park last week.
They looked at the Ledges as well as a water treatment plant located inside the park. Sources say the area is being considered as a hideout for Batman sidekick Robin.

Is this true? Is Christopher Nolan bringing Robin into his beloved franchise? Will Robin be played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt? These are all questions that will be addressed in the very near future as The Dark Knight Rises goes before the camera later this year.
The Dark Knight Rises comes to theaters July 20th, 2012 and stars Liam Neeson, Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, Aidan Gillen, Marion Cotillard. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

@ejk1 Poor wording of the article? I dunno man, same boat as you. I guess it's just my wish that she not be that important.

@dan1 If that's the case, then why all this hubbub about her?
Who cares if TDKR "wants" her?

Still think Temple won't be that important of a character. I like my theory of her just being some kind of backstabbing street level informant for JGL. Anything beyond that, and you're really messing with the elements being put into place.

Robin may end up being a girl. Juno Temple could be a Carrie Kelly type Robin. But I highly doubt it.

Robin will be a great add, if Nolan can make him work. The reason it never worked before, was because the films where very childish in a sense, where as this one is more grown up, serious and Robin added into this would be bloody fantastic.

All in all, I think JGL will be cast as a "good-guy" for TDKR.

JGL is not going to play Robin, he could just be Dick Grayson. I could see him used as the new DA or a young "hot shot" detective assigned to lead a special squad assigned to find the Batman. *If they follow "Prey" they could go this rout...but change the Max Court character into a "good-guy." (But really, he (JGL) is with Gordon in believing in Batman's methods...only "posing" in trying to find him.) This final story is going to involve many characters finding out who Batman really is.... now JGL's character as a detective cop could have the name of Dick Grayson? Perhaps? - Nolan could just change the story behind that character to fit his "universe."

Okay seriously, these non-stories about bad speculation is getting ridiculous. "TDKR" has gotta have (or will long before 2012) the most news articles for any film here, and only 8% of them are actual confirmation based stories. Hold off until Production or unless it comes straight from Nolan's mouth!!

@Vanboy, the goal was never to stray away from the comic book and make the characters unrecognizable. That just wouldn't be Robin if it was written that way. But that does sound like Red Hood who is a later product of a Robin that had no interest in playing by the rules of Batman. It's really one of two ways...Either do it properly in a way that it fits the the series that we've come to appreciate. Or don't do it at all. But no worries, they've long decided on the latter. This was just something to stir a buzz.

@Supes, no theories...Just the way I'd like to see it if it had to be. There's no doubt in my mind that we won't see Robin in this movie.

Here we go, Batman Forever part II. If they do bring him in, he better be a loner, and want nothing to do with being a sidekick! It says Leavitt is too old. Well, that would be a good route to go. Instead of Robin being some green behind the ears kid, he could be a seasoned ostracized crime fighter like Batman, but on his own terms. Totally switch it up. All we can hope for is that they learned from Batman and Robin in 1997.

I'm sticking to the theory that there will be no Robin.. What are these rumors based off of, filming locations?? c'mon I'll take Christopher Nolan's words over some park district official lol.
But while we're on the topic of absurd speculations, what I would love is an ending leading to a Batman Beyond sort of storyline, with possibly JGL taking over...

Guys guys guys.... there are articles on other sites that are more up to date that have gotten confirmation that Robin will NOT be in the movie. So any theorizing at this point on how to bring him in (at least into this chapter) is fruitless now.

@SCREENWRITER, lol! I hear you. But we as an audience, those of us who know the stories know that Batman's story regardless to the number of movies-doesn't end. Three movies wouldn't tell his tale to completion. But more than three movies threatens to ruin something that is classic in its time. And even with comic book characters, such is life. Unless you kill him, it's always going to be open-ended.

As long as they change robin's outfit then i am ok with the idea! They just need to change everything thing about him to mark it work.

@Mieko_Siede: I guess it'd be cool but it feels like a season finale type way to end something, not with a trilogy.

@SCREENWRITER, It wouldn't be cartoony if it was done right. Just leave it implied. All we'd see is the two meet, not the process of training or any of the other things. That would be left to our interpretation as to what happens between them after their initial meeting. The credits would roll after the boy's name is even mentioned and their eyes meet. But if they absolutely had to bring in Robin, which I doubt, that to me is the only way he would even fit in the dark world that Nolan has created.

The way I see any way Robin can fit is that he's introduced in the end. And older Bruce Wayne stands peering out of his window at Wayne Manor reflecting on all he's done to change the city for the better. Weary that it's a never ending struggle, more than he'd anticipated before donning the cape and cowl. The tragedy of death has made waves and he awaits a guest. Commissioner Gordan is escorted into the mansion by Alfred with a young boy in tow. He's brought to the den where Bruce stands, gray hair streaks his black mane. He turns to see the boy stricken with grief--masked with anger. He sees something strikingly familiar in the boy's gaze and suddenly feels the connection. He smiles warmly welcoming the boy inside his home. Young Dick Grayson is announced standing before the billionaire now known for his charitable contributions to the city. Bruce sees in this boy an opportunity to continue his legacy by training him to hone his anger and use it to become Gotham's next protector. Leaving it with the awkward stare between the two and the implication of a new chapter beginning. A fitting end to the Caped Crusader's saga.
The fans of the comics will know who the boy is without it really being shown. Joseph Gordan-Levitt should not be placed as Robin, nor to I believe he will be. Whatever role he's going to play, it will be fitting. I trust Christopher Nolan knows what he's doing. He won't disappoint.

All i know is that if JGL is robin I'm pretty sure out of all people that Nolan can make it work, but I'm just excited Gordon-Levitt is going to be in it no matter who he plays, he's a good actor and Nolan will not dissapoint.
