The Dark Knight Foiled by Pollution

CNN is reporting that a scene from the new Batman sequel The Dark Knight has been nixed due to pollution in Hong Kong's iconic harbor.

Batman was to drop from a plane into the harbor, but the water quality was found to poses a health risk. The South China Morning Post stated, "The plan was for Batman to be seen jumping into the water and then climbing up some bamboo, or something similar. But when they checked a water sample, they found all sorts of things; salmonella and tuberculosis, so it was canceled. Now the action will cut to inside a building."

The Dark Knight is opening July 18th, 2008.

The Dark Knight was released July 18th, 2008 and stars Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Michael Caine, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Monique Gabriela Curnen. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.
