Dark Knight will hold the number 1 spot for one more week, then it will be knocked off by Tropic Thunder AND Deathrace. But it will have said 'SCUSE me to Star Wars by then for the number 2 spot..

d sinking of Titanic was a tragic moment for d americans.. it was once claimed as the "unsinkable ship".. granpa's of ur old man lived at that time.. and one way of reliving that is by doing a tribute.. remembering the souls of ur old man's old man or granny.. our great great grannys.. so yeah, the term "fresh" is wrong.. but still, 1,500 deaths is not that hard 2 4get.. especially when their offspring's still alive..

I understand Elessar26 comments about the dvd and vcr and piracy comments... those are all legit reasons why Titanic made so much money, BUT..
What does he mean by "d incident of the Titanic was still fresh at their memories (like what the WTC movie had tried to attempt, but did not get much attention as Titanic did)"? Titanic sunk in 1912... the movie was made in 1997... That's freaking 85 years later. Fresh on peoples minds? I must be missing something?

by the way, Titanic not only holds the record for # 1 in dosmestic gross, it also holds the record of THE only movie in history to be # 1 for 15 weeks straight. Pineapple is about to ruin that record for the dark knight. The dark knight would have made more money if it were released in December, with less competition.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the dark knight, it's the definition of great entertainment, Its like silence of the lambs meets the god father.

It will not take titanic's place. For sure 2nd place. Although if any movie should beat titanic it should be this one. And even if it makes more than 600.000.00, it still needs to sell about 900.000.00 worth in tickets sales for what titanic sold in tickets back in 98.
So, star wars step a side for the dark knight!!!!!

It has a great chance of passing Star Wars, although would,of course,be hard to pass Titanic. It was just one of those movies that came along, and kept on going for months.

Thats great news but The Dark Knight has to pass Pirates, Star Wars Episode One, E.T., Shrek 2, Star Wars, and Titanic. Titanic is gonna be hard, $600,788,188 when The Dark Knight is at $405,700,000.

Great point from Elessar, although I would say piracy doesn't play as much a role as say the ever rising cost of "going to the movies", the price of gas, and the ever growing community of former moviegoers who have convinced themselves (wrongly I might add, unless they're sitting 5 feet away from their television) that they can get the exact same movie experience from their high-def home theater set-up.

reason it wont beat titanic is very clear elessar pointed out that with all the cam rec. and all the pirate sh*t its not gonna beat titanic but it would be awsome if it did.

lol thats quite a bold claim b-dog, soon it will cost double what it cost to see a movie back when Titanic came out, and the price is only going to keep going up.. it will only be a matter of time till 600 million is an easy feet for any summer blockbuster.. everyone, errm, shall I say all the Dark Knight junkies, thinks this movie is the see all, end all of movies. It's quite ridiculous.

TITANIC IS GOIN' DOWN, WATCH DARK KNIGHT AGAIN AND TELL EVERBODY ELSE YOU KNOW TO WATCH IT/WATCH IT AGAIN. WE ALL NEED A GREAT MOVIE TO BE #1 AND I DON'T THINK ANOTHER MOVIE WILL COME CLOSE TO #1 OR BEING IN THE #1 SPOT AS OF THE DARK KNIGHT.................

During the Titanic era, piracy was not yet at large.. Dvds and vcds were not yet invented.. and d incident of the Titanic was still fresh at their memories (like what the WTC movie had tried to attempt, but did not get much attention as Titanic did)
