The Weinstein Company sues Relativity Media over rights to The Crow remake
The Weinstein Company's lawyer, Bert Fields, alleges there is a written contract in place which gives The Weinstein Company and its founders Harvey Weinstein and Bob Weinstein the distribution rights to a remake. The lawsuit claims that Ryan Kavanaugh and his company Relativity Media plan to sell these distribution rights. Here's what Bert Fields had to say about the matter.
"Mr. Kavanaugh was not going to honor that contract. Apparently, he's going to sell these rights to others. He made a bunch of threats. Some people may submit to that kind of arrogant conduct, but we're not going to do it. If anybody tries to buy these distribution rights in The Crow , they are buying nothing but a lawsuit and they will get sued."
Last week we reported that Bradley Cooper is in early talks to portray Eric Draven, with Juan Carlos Fresnadillo set to direct. The producers were hoping to get production started this fall, although this lawsuit may throw a monkey wrench into those plans.
Harvey Weinstein and Bob Weinstein distributed the original version of The Crow in 1994.
The Crow is in development and stars Luke Evans. The film is directed by F. Javier Gutiérrez.

Got to admit, remakes do not bother me in the least, in fact I want to see more of them, if they're good then all is well if they're bad then the original seems 10x better!

There is no reason for this remake. The original is great and will never get old. No on will ever be able to play the roles in this movie the way the original cast did.

Im getting really p'd off with all this!! Stop remaking classic films, they aint called classics for a reason u know lol. Brandon Lee owned this film, i cant see ANYONE in his place, is this is what the worlds coming to where Hollywood have run out of ideas??!!
