The Crow Reboot Project Moves Forward

The Crow reboot project moves forward
We reported back in February that writer-director Stephen Norrington was still very much attached to an upcoming remake and now it seems the film is moving forward even more. MTV Splash Page spoke with The Crow remake producer Edward Pressman and he said that Norrington has finished the script for the film and they are moving forward with casting.

"[We've got an offer out] to a major actor and things are moving ahead very aggressively, with the aim of doing the film this year," Pressman told MTV News.

Pressman also noted that the setting of the film will be different than the original 1994 film The Crow, with this reboot set to take place in the southwest corner of America.

"The setting is the southwest - the Mexico/Arizona area - and an urban [setting], Detroit or Pittsburgh or something like that," he described. "There are two locations that the film is set. Its initial platform is in the southwest and then it moves to the big city in the north, middle or eastern America, and then back."

We'll be sure to keep you posted with any further details on The Crow remake as soon as we have more information.

The Crow is in development and stars Luke Evans. The film is directed by F. Javier GutiƩrrez.

@ I AM FRATSON I agree with Chevelle and FFDP. Personally, I don't really like the rest of your list though. To each his own. How about some Sevendust and Shinedown? (and when i say Shinedown I don't mean the overplayed "second chance", i'm talking some "Devour" or "Fly From The Inside")

@Marston. You are correct sir. I do beleive Fincher would make an awesome Crow flick. I also think in Nolan's hands it could be done well. Or Del Torro for that matter. So many people that could do it and they're going with Norrington? WOW!

does no one truly listen to rock music now a days? Muse and Dead Weather are def good choices @AFC, but there are sooo many more. Chevelle, Five Finger Death Punch, Shamans Harvest, Stone Sour, Breaking Benjamins, RED, Skillet, etc etc etc. There are more then enough rock bands out there currently that would create one hell of a soundtrack to this movie.

Okay I love the Crow. I mean I love it. The first film, the original Comic, and some of the subsequent ones as well. I also really liked the tv show "Stairway to heaven," even though it was a reimaging of the original story and it was very interesting. I liked the introduction of the female Crow, the Snakes etc. I hated most of the sequels, but actually liked "Salvation" because it took a few chances, like the scars instead of the paint, the short hair, no leather trench, AND he didn't even know who he was after at first (though it was glaringly obvious). "City of Angels" and "Wicked Prayer" the last which was actually based on a very good Crow novel, were horrible and tried too much to be copies of the original. "Wicked Prayer" had a good set up but bad cast, and execution. speaking of that piece of crap, "They expect to start shooting very soon, with the film set in the southwest, around the Mexico/Arizona area, before moving to cities in the north, middle or eastern America. This is a major detour from the first four movies, which picked a city and stuck with it." True except for "Wicked Prayer" which was in a small town on a reservation, which could have been the perfect set up for some great storytelling and action but NOOOOOO!

Anyway I dont think this should be made but since it is itreally shouldn't be called a reboot, nor a reimagining, nor a sequel. Just another Crow story. The only constant in the series is the Bird itself. Not the make up, not the look, but the bird, ressurection, and vengeance. In the comic "Dead Time" starring the first female crow, her make up is in the shape of a bird, with the wings covering her eyes, and the tail on her nose. Mis things up but give me something a little familliar. Hell a futuristic Crow film, or a story about the FIRST Crow ever maybe back in some native american village would be awesome. I've written a Crow story and I'm actually working on another now. It's a greta franchise but it's gone stale and if done right could be awesome again, but I don't this is gonna be it.

The original Crow (1994) with Lee is the benchmark of the franchise...Lee delivered a great performance, the direction, production design, soundtrack and adventure & heart still hold up...a modern classic!

Having said that & knowing that every franchise will be rebooted as studios deem them financially necessary/it's inevitable...I always like to withhold my judgement about a production until more of the elements present themselves...in this case, the newly casted Crow, plot points & a first cut trailer...and yeah, Marston, a Fincher Crow reboot would be the sh*t!!

post script...most of today's rap mix/teen pop crap-ola music certainly sux and not relevant to soundtrack the new Crow movie...but, a few music acts like Muse or The Dead Weather would be cool!

Damn. just damn. Theres litterally no point to remake this. but they are and the only director i would want touching this movie is maybe David Fincher. but i still dont want this to happen

@menjr - wtf r u goin on about? the comment rock music now a days isnt even good. your entire post is worthless after that. how do you figure the music is bad. the one with lee was good. but truth be told this movie has a LOT more potential if they go the darker route. it is perfect. Dont get me wrong, i love the first one with lee. the rest after werent great but werent terrible. i think it is a matter of not rebooting, like mentioned below, but continuing on and if you wanna push a trilogy out of it do that, but leave the others that came before.

that being said, imo, this will succeed - not be an EPIC FAIL.

Detroit & PIttsburgh do not resemble southwestern cities. Hell, Hiroshima is 1000X better than Detroit has ever appeared. They made a comebck from an atomic bomb, while Detroit hasn't even tried. lolz. You guys should see the comparison picture. But the southwest sounds like an intriguing location, but a reboot being classified as a remake of such a great--and more importantly recent--film? Not so much.
