Shia LaBeouf signs on for The Company You Keep
Actor Shia LaBeouf is set to star in the political thriller The Company You Keep alongside Robert Redford.

The drama marks Robert Redford's first time in front of a camera since the 2007 movie Lions for Lambs, which he also directed. Lem Dobbs wrote the screenplay, which centers on a former Weather Underground militant (Robert Redford) who is forced out of hiding and on the lam when a young journalist (Shia LaBeouf) uncovers his true identity. The script is adapted from the novel of the same name written by Neil Gordon.

Robert Redford will produce The Company You Keep through his Wildwood Enterprises banner along with Bill Holderman and Voltage Pictures' Nicolas Chartier. Here's what Nicolas Chartier had to say about the project below.

"This is an edge-of-your-seat thriller about real Americans who stood for their beliefs, thinking they were patriots and defending their country's ideals against their government. It is absolutely amazing to have Shia LaBeouf, arguably the brightest young star in Hollywood today paired with the global icon Robert Redford."

Production is scheduled to start in Vancouver this September.

The Company You Keep was released April 5th, 2013 and stars Robert Redford, Shia LaBeouf, Julie Christie, Susan Sarandon, Nick Nolte, Chris Cooper, Terrence Howard, Stanley Tucci. The film is directed by Robert Redford.

I am so happy for him. Shia is, without a doubt, one of the most talented actors I have ever come across. He is honest, confident and passionate about his career. It is nice to see him take on a more serious role, but I have to be honest, Transformers won't be the same without him. Go Shia!!

not a huge Shia fan but i absolutly love Robert Redford's direction. That alone will get me in the theater.

Long time actors who become directors usually make gret movies. Redford, Gibson, Kevin Costner and Albert Brooks are a few that comce to my mind immediatly.

Redford is a far better actor than director, at least so far and I'm not sure Shia is the brightest young star out there today either.

I'm not thrilled about this one. Robert Redford isn't a great director by any stretch, and I'm beginning to wonder when LaBeouf is going to stop making these kinds of movies and take the next step in his career with more serious roles.

I thought he had done that with The Wettest Country in the World, but now it looks as if he's taken one step forward and two steps back. The film itself will probably be okay, but the bottom line is, this looks like something he would've made 5 years ago.
