Sean Penn will direct Robert De Niron in The Comedian
Little is known about the story, except that Robert De Niro will play an aging, bitter stand-up comedian. There were unconfirmed reports out of Cannes this year that Martin Scorsese was circling the project, rumors which turned out to be false.
Sean Penn's last directorial effort was the 2007 drama Into the Wild. He has also directed The Pledge, The Crossing Guard, and The Indian Runner.
Production is scheduled to begin next year in New York City, although it isn't known if this project is set up at a studio or not.

Into the Wild was okay for one viewing. The Pledge was so dull and boring I couldn't believe Jack Nicholson was in it.

Good this is good. Thank god it isnt the other way around. Sean Penn directing is good, Robert De Niro eh........ but if Martin was directing, i would definitely watch

Uh -- Penn directing De Niro? Okay...
Is this gonna be like the end of Raging Bull when De Niro is telling sh*t jokes in hole in the wall bars while he bangs underage girls on the side? If so, I'm down. Lol.
