Laurence Fishburne is in final talks to join the Canadian indie sci-fi thriller, The Colony. Kevin Zegers is also close to inking a deal.

The sci-fi thriller will follow a group of underground survivors after the next Ice Age fending off an invasion of feral cannibals.

Jeff Renfroe will be directing the project with Paul Barkin, Colin Brunton and Pierre Even producing. The script is written by Patrick Tarr, Pascal Trottier and Svet Rouskov.

Production is expected to start in Toronto on February 22.
