According to The Hollywood Reporter, New Line Home Video's sci-fi thriller The Butterfly Effect flew to the top of Video Store Magazine's top 20 rentals chart for the week ending July 11.

The Ashton Kutcher starrer was the sole new entry on the chart, with such recent holdovers as Buena Vista Home Entertainment/ Dimension's Bad Santa and MGM Home Video's Barbershop 2: Back in Business merely shuffling places in a closely-packed top 5. BVHE's Cold Mountain and Barbershop 2 entered the Nielsen VideoScan DVD sales charts at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, for the week ending July 3.
