Shia LaBeouf is the latest actor circling The Bourne Legacy
The Bourne Legacy producer Frank Marshall previously worked with Shia LaBeouf on the 2008 blockbuster Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It seems a decision hasn't been made yet on who will become the new Jason Bourne, although Shia LaBeouf appears to be one of the leading candidates. Our report from last night indicates that the producers are seeking actors in their mid-20s to early-30s for the lead role.
Tony Gilroy will direct from his own script, and the production is said to start sometime this spring, assuming they sign a lead actor in the very near future. Not much is known about the story of The Bourne Legacy, although it is believed there will be an opening for Matt Damon to return as Jason Bourne in future installments.
The Bourne Legacy comes to theaters August 3rd, 2012 and stars Rachel Weisz, Jeremy Renner, Joan Allen, Albert Finney, Oscar Isaac, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach, Scott Glenn. The film is directed by Tony Gilroy.

LeBeouf is a fine actor, but it's easy to understand the backlash he's getting from this report. His movies, while they aren't bad, have let a lot of fans down. Wall Street 2, Transformers 2, and Indy 4 (which I loved, by the way), have huge followings from very different demographics. It doesn't take much more to get on the wrong side of audiences than to be the person most associated with "ruining" films with those kinds of fan bases.
Another reason - and this is the obvious one - is that he always plays himself. What is most likely upsetting people about this article isn't the fact that Labeouf is being considered to play Jason Bourne, it's that Bourne is essentially being considered to play Labeouf.

I like LeBeouf! He has a strong, energetic screen presence (reminds me a lot of a young Tom Hanks). You never know how he could do in a role like this. It's not like Matt Damon was a big action star before they cast him in the first Bourne movie.

I want reasons rather than these arbitrary assertions. If i get a clear, logical explanation of why Shia is not "qualified" ill leave it alone. and normally i wouldnt intervene im just a big shia fan

happy to be a f*g too. i cant conceive how all of these people hate shia labeouf. he is a good actor. he didnt ruin Indiana that movie shouldnt have been remade plain and simple..not his fault. He has a strong "action film" history. All of these other candidates with the exception of Garret Hedlund have not been in many action films. OBv. Toby has but he sucks.

This IS HIS role. the only person to consider would be hedlund and gylenhaal is a good actor but not for this role. A GREAT candidate for this role should be f*cking TOM HARDY. He is the man. LaBeouf has ruined a couple of movies: If they can replace Megan Fox in Transformers, then they can definitely replace this guy. He's also ruined the Indiana Jones franchise, and that's why Harrison Ford has asked to make just one last movie so that he can have his character killed off and never have to star in another movie with LaBeouf ever again.
Maybe they can use Garret Hedlund, he did a good job with Tron: Legacy, or why don't thy just try a CGI actor to replace Matt Damon and he can do the voice over, it would be so much better than casting Shia Labeouf.

There are much better actors out there and putting this out is plain awful.
Come to think of it, Ben Afflict would be a better choice than La'buffy but I have a feeling this is just a rumor.
I don't mind him in certain films but when it comes to films like this his agent should just give him small roles.
