The Bodyguard remake is happening at Warner Bros.
The original 1992 movie The Bodyguard starred Kevin Costner as a Secret Service agent brought onto protect a singer (Whitney Houston) who fears for her life because of a dangerous stalker. Eventually, the Secret Service agent falls in love with the celebrity.
The new version of The Bodyguard will be revamped for today's digital age, with an Iraq War veteran taking on the bodyguard job, discovering that it is even more difficult to protect celebrities in the 21st Century. There is speculation that Rhianna may take over the role originated by Whitney Houston.
Dan Lin will produce the remake along with co-producer Mark Bauch. The producers are seeking a young singer with a worldwide following for the lead role. No production schedule was released for The Bodyguard at this time.
The Bodyguard grossed over $400 million worldwide during its theatrical run in 1992.
The Bodyguard was released November 25th, 1992 and stars Kevin Costner, Whitney Houston, Gary Kemp, Bill Cobbs, Ralph Waite, Tomas Arana, Michele Lamar Richards, Mike Starr. The film is directed by Mick Jackson.
The Bodyguard comes to theaters in 2013.

The original was a B rated action movie boosted with a ridiculous over-sang song...
But they were the biggest stars (Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston) at that period. Doing a remake with today's biggest stars might be a refreshing idea though...

There should be a rule, a law that states that a movie shant be remade until 30 years has passed.

The only thing I remember about the original was the soundtrack that would just not die. As for this, well, they aren't remaking a classic, so perhaps they feel that they can improve upon it. Honestly, I don't think that would be hard. As for who is in it, I don't care; I have no intention of seeing this.

@incmob, It was reported yesterday that Rihanna was given the lead female role for The Bodyguard. Now its been confirmed that Christ Brown will be playing the role of the Bodyguard. Yea, that would be funny as hell.

@bane5000 I believe there was a film released within the past year or two that was so similar to THE BREAKFAST CLUB it was obvious, but I cannot remember the title. I also recently read of another film titled BUMPED, which is essentially BREAKFAST CLUB in an airport. I am with you on these remakes... All hope does seem lost......................

Wow!
And make it 3D also (with Kevin Costner doing a cameo as the father of the new bodyguard)!
Sure . . . that really would make this "a must see film".

this movie wasnt chitty, most of the movies were not chitty, its the reboots/remakes that come out chitty. And wat makes it that way is the fact that they dont stick to the same story as the old1, they change em. like "clash of the titans" nightmare on elm street, halloween 2, lol, very few remakes did turn out good tho. The bodyguard is 1 of those films that should have been left alone. it came out AKA perfect. I ould have been VERY PLEASED if Costner (him self) returned for a part2, maybe 1 of those "im retired already" type of films where he getsan offer to protect sum1. and that sort of thing. Whitney doesnt have to return but can still make a small cameo, like maybe her winning an award or sum sort of thing,
