'The Avengers' Trailer!

The first look at next summer's might Marvel adventure featuring Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man has arrived.
Remember how Back To The Future Part II had a trailer for Back To The Future Part III during end credits? Well, Joss Whedon was such a fan of that move, he demanded the same thing of Captain America: The First Avenger. Instead of a cookie at the end of credits, as we've seen in previous Marvel movies, we get a full-fledged teaser trailer for The Avengers. If you can't wait until Friday to see it on the big screen, you can check out the Bootsy Collins version below.

Captain America: The First Avenger was released July 22nd, 2011 and stars Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Tommy Lee Jones, Hugo Weaving, Dominic Cooper, Richard Armitage, Stanley Tucci. The film is directed by Joe Johnston.

Marvel's The Avengers was released May 4th, 2012 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.

We've seen the official TDKR teaser. We've seen a bootleg Avengers teaser. We've gotten a description of the Spidey teaser. Now we need info on the Man of Steel teaser, please.

@samfisher Why even bother bringing up TDKR here? They aren't competition. The Avengers will be released two and a half months before TDKR. Besides, DC's behemoth will definitely get more money, but think about this one: from The Avengers will spring sequels for Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America at the very least, with prospects for others. After TDKR, there's nothing. No sequels, no spin offs, nothing. If it is a battle between The Avengers and TDKR, Marvel will lose the battle (Summer 2012), but ultimately win the war (everything after). Unless of course DC brings a good Man of Steel, a much improved GL sequel, and finally get off their asses for Wonder Woman. But who knows if they will.

@skywise Take no offense then, friend :)

@dan1 Like you put yourself out there with GL? Lol. Just kidding, friend. That's fair enough. But, it's not about trying to buck the trend. I'm not trying to distinguish myself with my comments, I'm simply giving my honest opinion. Like I said, I don't think Avengers'll be a bad movie per se (at least not at this point), I just don't think it'll be anything new. I actually liked most of what I saw from the trailer, screaming fanboys aside. Lol.

@mram5 aint i right. i do think that it will be a fun movie to watch but that is all. TDKR has a greater history behind it, a superior cast and what Marvel doesnt have. Christopher Nolan

@thedude-abides It's true, I am biased when it comes to cbm's. I make no bones about that. But the reason I place my faith in Avengers has nothing to do with that, honestly. I've seen and read enough of Whedon's work to know that the man understands how to bring more than explosions, fights, the usual trappings of the genre. You and @bryanyentz can continue to buck the trend to buck the trend, but I'm willing to put myself out there and say that you both will be wrong at the end of the day on this one.

@thedude-abides In fact i find most hardcore fans to be the most judemental. Look at the backlash that occured over X Men Origins: Wolverine. I read the comic books but my vision is far less than skewed. But i understand that many people WANT this to be good and that might skew their images but you can make arguments for both sides.

Case in point: Everyone knows i love the X-Men....

didn't here me do a lot of talking about that new movie eh?

everyone is gonna remember how The Dark Knight Rises made this movie look like crap. just another cgi explosion fest.

@bryanyentz If that was a legitimate wager, there'd be a lot of moviewebbers walkin' around with lint in their pockets, lol. There's no perspective on this site. Some people, and by that I mean most people, are way too easily pleased. It's not that we're being skeptical, we're just being honest. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's not afraid to speak his mind on the matter.

Personally, I don't have a dog in the race. I don't care if a certain movie's good or not, I don't care. I simply call it for what it is. Most the people on here are fans of the actual comics, so their perspective is skewed towards the exculpatory if not all out whitewashing of the truth. It's hard to see something's flaws when in your own mind it can do no wrong. And while I certainly don't think this movie looks like a complete waste of time, I couldn't agree more with your overall point in that we've seen it a hundred times before. It'll literally be a carbon copy of its predecessors, just with more heroes and villains.

@ejk1 It'll be good to see in HQ come Friday, so we can dissect and discuss in more detail. It's pretty hard to make out some details from this bootleg, anyways.

@dan1@bryanyentz Going back to the Buffy TV show, I remember something vital about Whedon: He isn't going to showyou the goods until it's time. I expect the trailer, which I have not seen, to be somewhat generic with purpose. Whedon Probably won't go flashy, but just give basics so the good stuff stays secret for as long as possible (and please don't tell me if I am wrong--I'd like to be surprised come Friday).

@bryanyentz I would bet against you. I place my faith in Joss Whedon to deliver over your skepticism. But, I self admittedly worship at the guy's feet and creative mind, so eh. I just believe he'll make it better than average, based on his previous work.

@bawnian-dexeus True. Although, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it were purple. I've seen far more ridiculous things come out of this genre, lol.

@dan1 It all unsubstantiated as of now. Some people also feel she may be Wasp. Hell, it could be someone altogether different. Or, it's just a rumor. I just found the story interesting.

@mbrandon11 I agree with you. I have a feeling that 'The Hobbit' will probably give TDKR a run for it's money, but ultimately TDKR will probably squeak it out.
