The Astronaut Farmer Blasts Off on DVD July 10
The Astronaut Farmer chronicles the adventures of Charles Farmer (Billy Bob Thornton), a former rising star in the field of aerospace engineering who is forced to retire early and tend to a family situation. Over the next 10 years, Farmer spends his time and money on developing his very own rocket ship, in which he plans to launch himself and orbit the earth.
As word quickly spreads and Farmer assumes the role of global folk hero, the federal government takes notice and quickly moves to shut the operation down. With the support of his family, Farmer is determined to realize his dream and prove to the world that anyone can accomplish their goals, no matter how unlikely.
The Astronaut Farmer is directed by Michael Polish (Northfork), and features star-studded performances by Academy Award Winner Billy Bob Thornton (Monster's Ball), Academy Award Nominee Virginia Madsen (Sideways), and Bruce Dern (All the Pretty Horses).
The Astronaut Farmer will be available on a single DVD which contains both Widescreen & Fullscreen formats on the same disc (one format on each side of the disc) for $27.95 SRP.
Synopsis:
All systems are go for Charles Farmer. He's faced bank foreclosure, neighborhood naysayers and a government alarmed by his huge purchase of high-grade fuel, but now he's ready to blast into space inside the homemade rocket he built in his barn. Just be home in time for dinner, Charlie.
Billy Bob Thornton portrays Charlie in this charmer about chasing dreams...and about what it means to be a family. 10,000 pounds of rocket fuel alone can't lift Charlie into the heavens. He needs a launch/recovery crew, and he has one of the best: his wife (Virginia Madsen) and children, dreamers all. They have liftoff. Our spirits have uplift. Gravity cannot hold down our dreams. The Astronaut Farmer is that kind of movie.
