Look @c-a-r-t-m-a-n I'm not "scared" for TDKR; I'm both a Marvel and DC fan, hell I just love comic book movies in general, so I never said I was scared. @ejk1 made a great point about how TDKR has no competition after it's July 18th release, which gives it plenty of time to make money fast. Spider-Man only has the first two weeks of July to earn as much cash as it can before Batman arrives. Everyone will (including me) see The Avenger's opening weekend. I own all the MCU movies and I own every Spider-Man movie in the trilogy as well as both Nolan Batman movies too. I'm excited for this summer.

@ejk1 - agreed!!! even i am not happy with the competition for Avengers and Spidy - also to the solo race for TDKR....

@joekerr2e You are correct sir. In fact, the organic webbing was done away with four or five years ago.

@c-a-r-t-m-a-n@ghostman All three will make bank, no doubt. Which one will make the most? Logic says TDKR. Not because of a popularity contest, but because of placement. The Avengers is released on May 4th, which means it gets a jump, but it also has to face the next weekend's top competition all the way through summer. With blockbuster films like Battleship, Men In Black 3, and Prometheus as competition for the first month's worth of weekends, The Avengers will probably have diminishing totals well before ASM is released July 3rd. The June 22nd release of Brave probably removes The Avengers from the top five altogether. ASM will have a good run and SHOULD dominate until TDKR is released on July 20th. Now here is where TDKR crushes. There is simply no film after TDKR's release that is receiving great anticipation. The Bourne Legacy, Total Recall, and The Expendables 2 all have fans, but have detractors as well, and those people will most likely continue to fill TDKR's coffers well into September.

@ghostman - both the movies together?! best joke ever dude,. the Amazing Spider will eat TDKR alone - Avengers will swipe it clean... please dont act as if you are diplomatic here, you dont have the balls to say you are TDKR fan - which you are - its very clear from ur comments. Acting here coz ur scared of the summer - what if i support TDKR and it happen to suck Marvels c*ck?! You r scared dude. Be a man (I am again saying to you "SPIDY will swipe the BO, it will make more money than TDKR") open healthy challenge!!

@c-a-r-t-m-a-n Or how about both of them will make more money than TDKR combined? Either way you put it, more people are excited for Batman (becuz it's the last Nolan film in the trilogy), I'm more excited for The Avengers (since i want to see how it all turns out) and my interest in this Spider-Man movie is growing everyday. When the year is over, it doesn't matter which movie made more money than the other, what matters most is if they are going to be great films that won't let us down. :)

@ghostman - lets see wats gonna be the result ;) summer is not far away!..

I personally vote for TASM and TA - one of these 2 will make more money than TDKR. Lets bet?! I am c*cky and I am being mean here so what? I support for the hero i like.. get over it.

Well @c-a-r-t-m-a-n what kind of remark is this: "Ppl who gave this trailer less scores are 100% Nolan(TDKR) fans" you shouldn't call out just "Nolan/TDKR Fans" because users gave the trailer a low score :P For all you know, maybe they don't like the idea of a Spidey reboot or have no interest in this movie and are fans of the Raimi Trilogy. so that's your personal opinion also.

And about the 'proof' on how TDKR will be a bigger summer movie than Spiderman, here's the facts:

-The Dark Knight Rises trailer was the most downloaded movie trailer of the year with over 200 million downloads and in it's first 24hrs of release, it was viewed nearly 145 million times.

    - In an ESPN Sports Center poll, they asked "which comeback are you more excited for?: Peyton Manning or Batman?" 75% of voters chose Batman over an actual human being who's a football player!

-This is the last Batman film in Nolan's trilogy, being that it's been 4 years since the last movie (which earned more than 500 million domestically) chances are anticipation for this is over the top. Some box office estimates are that TDKR will earn 450 milllion dollars. (TASM most likely be third with 200 million and The Avengers will take second place making about 325 million)

Look man, i respect the work you did with TF3 but seriously, you're way too c*cky and full of yourself talking about how TASM is "going to crush the box-office" seems like you're just another one of those "Spidey Fanboys" acting just like the Nolan fans are. I'm a huge fan of the Spider-Man films, and seeing the new trailer made me change my mind about this movie. It looks great and I can't wait to see it in theaters soon; but we are all not Nostradamus and we can't predict who will be on top. You have Batman, Spider-Man, and The Avengers--all comic book movies which are highly anticipated (some more than others); All i can say is that it'll be a great summer and it's the year of the superheroes :)

@shuabert it may not be a done deal, but i think it would be a great spin on the whole mythos of spidey as well. it would certainly split fans down the middle on reception but might bring something new and fresh to the table which this film feels from the trailer at least that it is trying to do just that.

  12. Cartman

@ghostman - you have said "I can assure you that TDKR is more anticipated than this" - how do you say so? what proof do you have dude? its your personal opinin,. so relax,.

TASM > TDKR - we all know bats gonna die - who cares!! - id still watch TDKR but im so waiting for Avengers and TASM both of the Marvels Massive Muscle will beat the crap out of DC this summer(My personal opinion). Lets wait and watch the result..

@josh um his uncle is going to be killed in this movie. Their were pictures

  14. Josh

@incmob Yeah, totally. I thought of that. It's definitely possible they've just cut it that way, but the line "he lives with his aunt and uncle", which everyone already knows, seems so inconsequential to throw in there consciously if it's not actually from that scene.

I'm just entertaining the idea that Uncle Ben's death may not be a major factor in this movie, if it even happens at all, which could be a nice spin on a story we already know. What IS the motivation for Peter to become Spider-Man if that event doesn't take place?

It's an interesting "what if" scenario that I think would be interesting for them to explore. But I agree, it's certainly not a done deal when none of us has seen the film.

@c-a-r-t-m-a-n No one's "scared" of the high popularity interest that TASM is getting. i don't know what you're talking about, but i can assure you that TDKR is more anticipated than this. But i will say that I am hugely interested in how this new 'reboot' will work out because it does, dare i say it, looks amazing!

personally i can see parts in this that almost play homage to raimi's films, and are a bit modeled off of those, could be coincidence. I am actually looking forward to this more than i am TDKR although both films will be a priority for me for first day viewings.

@shuabert I can see where you are going with this and it is a good angle, however gwen does not actually say it at the dinner table but it is a voiceover he lives with his aunt and uncle, which happens to proceed the scene at the table, so in all actuallity it could be a line from a different part of the movie prior to that scene. As we all know trailers can mash up different parts that are not in order with how the film plays out. just a thought to counter your theory although i do like the idea you are going with.

@ChiRep-1 LoL, I will say I've warmed up slightly. It has elements I really wanted to see in the old films, which is what's drawing me to this. But I still have my nitpicks about everything. Nothing comes without its flaws, and right now I see way more cons than pros.

  23. Josh

I'm starting to buy what they're saying when they call this "the untold story." Notice the dinner table conversation in which Gwen says that Peter lives with "his aunt AND UNCLE," a conversation in which they also discuss the moral value of Spiderman. Think about that. Uncle Ben's death is the catalyst for Spider-Man's creation, so it's entirely possible that in this movie they've completely changed that. I'm interested to see what angle they've come up with for this.
