This week's issue of Entertainment Weekly spotlights next week's Comic-Con, specifically The Amazing Spider-Man's presence there, with new photos and details.
The magazine confirms that Rhys Ifans is playing Doc Conners, who will transform into the villain known as The Lizard.
Entertainment Weekly had this to say about the highly anticipated Marvel adaptation.
"Four years after Spider-Man 3, starring Tobey Maguire, The Amazing Spider-Man promises to be a "more contemporary," "more gritty," and "more character-driven" look at the comic book hero."
In the issue, on news stands Friday, Marc Webb offered this bit of insight into the reboot.
"Ultimately what this movie is about is a kid who grows up looking for his father and finds himself. And that's a Spider-Man story we haven't seen before."
In related news, a trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man is rumored to be playing along with prints of Captain America: The First Avenger on July 22. And if the story is correct, the trailer will be two minutes and thirty seconds long. Stay tuned!
The Amazing Spider-Man comes to theaters July 3rd, 2012 and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Denis Leary, Chris Zylka, Irrfan Khan, C. Thomas Howell. The film is directed by Marc Webb.

@moviewiz001 i so agree wit u but remember wen Movieweb gave us a whole bunch of photos of Thor and then during Comic Con they gave us a trailer and MW post it on the site. Well I think that situation will happen 2 this movie

@narrator The "He's looking for his father" comment shows the definite Ultimate Spider-Man influence as the early Ultimate books featured Spidey trying to figure what happened to his parents and his fathers work with the ultimate symbiote.

Just by the pictures ( the one with him beaten up in particular) I can just tell this movie's gonna have more depth, Garfield brings so much to the table can't wait to see the trailer.
My only concern is the action, as long as it lives up to Raimi's action sequences I'll be satisfied but if it goes beyond than it'll be epic.!

The Narrator: The Better Man
P.S. Love the "he's looking for his "father"' direction.

The Narrator: The Better Man
The web shooters look beast. Plus, I love the two pictures with him and Gwen. Looks like Lizard kicks his ass. Finally, collateral damage that the supporting characters actually notice. This is gonna rock... hopefully. :P

@Intoxicated You haven't even seen this movie yet. Maybe you should judge after you see what Garfield does with the character.
These pictures are awesome. They look like they just came out of a comic book
