Shailene Woodley to take the female lead as Mary Jane Watson in The Amazing Spider-Man 3
And with that, some information has leaked for her role in this planned trilogy. The actress will only have a very small part in the upcoming sequel. So small, in fact, you might even consider it a cameo. But Shailene Woodley will become the female lead in Sony's planned Part 3, a climax to this particular trilogy, with Mary Jane serving as the pathway to "The Death of Gwen Stacy" storyline.
Yes, they are going to kill off Emma Stone. But don't scream spoiler in my direction. This particular storyline is a part of the proper Spider-Man mythos, and most fans knew where this trilogy was heading the moment they heard Emma Stone had been cast.
It is unclear at this time if Marvel plans to reboot the series once again after Part 3, or if they will continue on with Andrew Garfield and Shailene Woodley in the leads for a second trilogy.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 comes to theaters May 2nd, 2014 and stars Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley, Sally Field, Dane DeHaan, Andrew Garfield, Martin Sheen, Felicity Jones. The film is directed by Marc Webb.

@ejk1 I think she looks a little bit younger than Garfield which is good because MJ is actually a year or two younger than Peter. She was actually mentioned before he met Gwen but never seen until he dated Gwen. Aunt May always tried to set them up. He blew it off which is why he never met her until after Gwen. But she was his neighbor for years and lived with her Aunt. And she knew he was Spiderman since high school.

Im just so happy that this damn reboot didnt score as high critcally and box office wise as the trilogy
and Im so happy I made it through the summer without seeing it, the tough part is now getting through November and December while its out on sale and warning my family to stay away from it
my dad and I love the trilogy too much and Sam Raimi actually had the heart

@therealGoku No, they won't make a complete repeat of Spider-Man 3. The trilogy is most likely leading up to Goblin in the third film. They wouldn't have spoke of him in the first film if they were not ever going to use him.

People make me laugh. The fact that they think Raimi should return, and that Maguire was a better Parker are just people who clearly know nothing of the comics. Garfield embodied Parker perfectly and ten times more than Tobey ever did. I'm not sure why people don't care for the new Spider-Man. 1) it follows through with the source-material, so that's an automatic win and 2) IT FOLLOWS THE SOURCE-MATERIAL. That needs to be stated twice. People who complain over the story and the direction this is going in needs to relax. It's following the comics, not your dreams and precious "original" trilogy.

@moviegeek They aren't introducing her as an excuse. Peter met her while he was dating Gwen, so they need to have her in the next film to be introduced to Peter before Gwen dies.

@ejk1 I really don't see the problem with age. I've seen photo-shopped pictures of Andrew and Woodley next to each other and they both look around the same age. They actually make a cute looking couple too.

I didn't hate the film, I just didn't care for the small mistakes.
I enjoyed parts of it and that's what counts.
I used to have that mentality, tho I was slightly joking around when I said that. Opinions can be over done at times, take my step father for one. I can't play any music I like he hates pop, alternative anything that is modern. he's opinionated, about anything he doesn't like.
Take facebook for example, he'll lecture anyone for an hour and a half over something he knows nothing about.

@zender Yeah...I'm done talking to someone who has a mentality that they are always right. And yeah, 40% of them don't like it, which most of those are people who grew up on the original trilogy and see this as God's punishment to Earth and won't give it a chance and if they do see it, they still hate it no matter what. I know a few people myself who if they saw the film, would hate it no matter what.

Well it's important to do the death of gwen, by the (spoiler), but I've been reading marvel history of red skull and according to this, red skull killed Peter Parkers parents, will they include this? Let me know if I got this wrong. :)

@ROFLitschristian the archer reference was perfect.
...and despite whether or not it is known by all fans that gwen dies in the comic, i think there still needs to be a distinct alert that you are going to spoil significant plot points in a movie. you don't know how they plan on breaking it down, or when they intend to make it happen. just because we assume it, the anticipation of when is still thrilling...to tell WHEN exactly they plan on doing it is a spoiler. plain and simple. just not cool really.

@superman81: Were they all decent to good films yes, but nothing spectacular or perfect like many fans think the Avengers is. I agree Marvel studio films aren't the end all to be all in comic or Marvel licensed films.

But the Amazing Spider-Man series has no ties to the MCU, @superman81. So why bring the subject up when you know that fan-boys will likely disagree with you and a debate will start over publishing house properties. Lol.

I'm not sure, @ejk1. Perhaps they're going for an "it" actress, regardless of age. After all, make-up does most of the work these days, but I doubt even that'll make the baby-faced (though cute) Shailene look any older. I'm glad it's not confirmed yet, because I really want someone else in the role.

i thought that the amazing spiderman was really good. i thought that andrew garfield was a great peter parker and the action in spiderman was amazing. i think that its interesting that they are doing the gwen stacy storyline. it sucks that we have to wait till 2014 to see the new spiderman .

@Michael-Rockwell look man, I'm right, I'm always right, even when I'm wrong I'm right. My opinion, isn't an opinion it's the truth.
%40 of spidey fans hated the film and I can go either way.
I'm a Raimi fan full and fore most.
This spidey is far less whinny, Logan should have taken the mantle.
A skate board spidey isn't the one I liked.

People are drooling over Marvels MCU when they have only made three good movies. Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, and Avengers even though the story was predictable. Iron man 2 wasn't good, Thor was mediocre and Captain America is the worst of em all. Chris Evans ruined that character.

i do have to say this is not a spoiler, spiderman has been around for a long time, by now most people must know what happens to Gwen, I knew george stacy was going to die in the first film, just from the photos I saw
