Sam Claflin is one of the new actors testing for Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2
We reported last week that Dane DeHaan (Chronicle), Brady Corbet (Melancholia), and Alden Ehrenreich (Beautiful Creatures) were trying out for the part last week. However, the producers are now seeking actors with more athletic characteristics, so it is believed that those actors from last week are not in consideration anymore. Ironically, that trio tested because the studio revamped the role from being more athletic to "dark and edgy," but it seems the studio has flip-flopped their stance.
Marc Webb is directing the sequel from a screenplay by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and Jeff Pinkner. It isn't known when shooting will begin.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 comes to theaters May 2nd, 2014 and stars Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley, Sally Field, Dane DeHaan, Andrew Garfield, Martin Sheen, Felicity Jones. The film is directed by Marc Webb.

Not necessarily the direction I'd go with the character, but w/e. What really troubles me now is the script. If the studio can't get a lock on the character, what's that say about the script. The script's complete, so why the flip-flop in casting? Is this just smoke and mirrors or bad reporting?

@Roberto-Mata I understand what you mean, but I think if I remember correctly, Webb said he wanted to keep Peter in a high school environment for a while to continue to develop the character and give the audience the impression that this young kid is facing all these challenges head on...a college student may give him too much maturity for the tone they are trying to set. I could be totally wrong though...

@justatadmatt You are right, Grafield got his big break with The Social Network, and he was fantastic, I think for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, they need to go with a more mature Peter Parker, since he has been to hell with all that happen in the first one, I think he graduates from High School in the first scenes of the second film, and goes to college, meeting Harry Osborn and Mary Jane..

@Roberto-Mata i think they need a lesser known actor with talent. James Franco got his big break with Spider-Man (Freaks and Geeks was no where near as popular as it should have been) and I think he was fantastic. I think it's definitely possible. As for my comment, I was referring to the fact that you called him "justin beiber" because of his profile picture only...I haven't seen Booth, but if Aronofsky thinks he is good enough for one of his pictures, I'll believe he is talented...

Holbrook and Redmayne, look kind of the athletic, Dark and Edgy Harry Osborn, Booth looks too much of a Justin Bieber character, Claflin has already upcoming projects, I hope the producers choose wisely.
