The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be released on May 2, 2014
"I think it speaks volumes about our confidence in what we are seeing on the new film and our desire to move quickly on the next installment."
It isn't known if any deals are in place yet for cast and crew members to return, although the main stars likely signed overall deals for at least one sequel. No other movie is scheduled to open on May 2, 2014 at this time, and with a big-budget sequel like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opening the 2014 summer movie season, it seems highly unlikely that any other movie will be released on that date.

The Amazing Spider-Man comes to theaters July 3rd, 2012 and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Denis Leary, Chris Zylka, Irrfan Khan, C. Thomas Howell. The film is directed by Marc Webb.

I prefer movies to go by the comics. For the first movie, the could have used any villian(s) the wanted. But for the second installment, they should go by the comic and have the death of Gwen Stacy by the Green Goblin. It would perfect, and then for the 3rd... Then you could have someone such as Venom, Carnage, Rhino, Vulture, etc.

@ROFLitschristian - I agree, Spiderman is going to make a hell of alot of money no matter what they really do with him so a sequel already planned isn't really surprising.
@smallville - I'm with you on them finishing Sam series before rebooting it, i'm one in a few who didn't think Spiderman 3 was that bad they they needed to reboot it.
@cupid - True, but it's better to have an ideal of where the story meant go just incase it does well. Or we will get more movies like pirates of the caribbeans, that have no ideal of what the hell to do next.

I really think they should have waited just a little bit longer. If at mid 2012 they started pitching the idea for a reboot, we would have warmed up to it a little better. It still might be good though
