The Amazing Spider-Man 2 may bring back director Marc Webb
Marc Webb signed on to direct at least one more movie for Fox Searchlight, as a part of the deal for his breakthrough indie comedy (500) Days of Summer. The studio granted him a reprieve to make The Amazing Spider-Man, although they still expect him to keep up his end of the deal. Now, the indie studio may let the filmmaker direct The Amazing Spider-Man 2, if he commits to a two-picture deal. While most directors are averse to such a long-term commitment, it would free him up to make the superhero sequel.
It isn't known if talks are under way between the filmmaker, Sony Pictures, and Fox Searchlight for this new deal, although Sony likely has to move fast, or find a new director. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has already been given a May 2, 2014 release date. We reported in April that Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are rewriting the sequel script from an original draft by James Vanderbilt.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 comes to theaters May 2nd, 2014 and stars Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley, Sally Field, Dane DeHaan, Andrew Garfield, Martin Sheen, Felicity Jones. The film is directed by Marc Webb.

@corey I respectfully diagree.
This was nothing like the comics. It had a weak script and it leaned towards alot from the previous film, just in a bad way.
I find it hard to believe that forced random scenes, like the dinner with Cap Stacey, train scene, shop lifting one, eggs, and so on are part of a good script. It felt rushed, with a poor script and even more poor editing.
How is this loyal to the comics? even the most basic things here are off or missing.
Skipping the most important stuff and rush back to over drama with no depth what so ever.
I felt cheated as a viewer. That's how i felt.

@the-crow2k To each his own, but as a huge fan of the Spidey comics, it was a perfect adaptation.

@corey I didn't missed anything. I'm objective.
This film was poorly made, with no depth and no development with all that should be important in a film, and by no way deserve the praise you are talking about.
The only people it left impression in my theater were little kids, the grown ups who were there didn't know what the hell they were watching. But it was sure not a Spider-Man film.
Garfield's performance was bad in almost every single way, there was nothing memorable in his acting except it was forced and unreal.
If you want to compromise for mediocrity, be my guest.
The studio was very specific who is their target audience...and it was for little kids, with familiar taste for 'The Hunger Games' and Twilight.

@newtron Horner's soundtrack was incredible. The single played during the crane scene gets me every time.

@the-crow2k You missed the film. TASM was one of the best comic-book adaptations for a solo-character since Iron Man. Garfield was a perfect Peter.

@newtron What about the script? the directing? the bad acting? the awful editing? no character development? the fact that Spider-man is aim only for kids these days.
Spider-man as a skater? really?

Just don't bring back James Horner for the music. That score was horrible.

@narrator I feel a bit traitorous changing from Nightcrawler but I want to give my 2nd fav X Man some love. Also, Chris Bachalo's art is fantastic.

He didn't do the bare minimum with the characters he had now, not to mention Spidey/Parker portrayal was awful.
I find it hard to believe how much they can screw up with a big production like this...?
Stuff like a proper editing here are missing. Every scene does not sync with the previous one.
I just can't shake the feeling i have from this awful film. And that comes from a fan.

I just hope he can do a god job... I would like to see Kraven or Scorpion! I feel like they would be really fun!

I really, really hope not.
TASM was terrible in every way possible....they need to change a different approach, they need to change a different director.

the Narrator
Agreed, @skywise. Webb shows promise, and with better writers attached to the project (the two minds behind the Star Trek reboot and Fringe), I have faith that the second installment will be even better than the first outing, which wasn't too shabby itself.
Btw, great avatar, but why the change from Nightcrawler?

@bryanyentz yea its rare to get truly amazing superhero movies..most are usually good to jus a movie tht is entertaining but what i thought TAS did was setup alot for this one...which i thought did hurt tht movie by not standing on its own though will help make this movie much better...hopefully

I don't know, I did enjoy the new film but it seems to me that they are aiming it toward Green Goblin to square off the another trilogy.
