One of the major differences between The Amazing Spider-Man and the original Spider-Man trilogy is that Peter Parker's best bud Harry Osborn was nowhere to be found. Sony plans on changing that with the sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2, with actors such as Dane DeHaan (Chronicle), Brady Corbet (Melancholia), and Alden Ehrenreich (Beautiful Creatures) trying out for the part later this week.

The role was originally crafted for a bulkier, athletic actor, although now the part is being revamped to attract a, "dark and edgy" thespian. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are returning as Peter and Gwen Stacy, with Oscar nominee Shailene Woodley (The Descendants) confirmed to play Mary Jane Watson. Jamie Foxx has also been rumored to play the villain Electro, although that has not been confirmed.

Marc Webb will direct from a screenplay by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and Jeff Pinkner.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 comes to theaters May 2nd, 2014 and stars Martin Sheen, Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Dane DeHaan, Stan Lee, Sarah Gadon, Felicity Jones, Jamie Foxx. The film is directed by Marc Webb.

It'd be far too similar to the original trilogy, @Intoxicated, for obvious reasons. Besides, Dave strikes me as far too naturally c*cky to pull off more than one or two lonely or negative emotions at any given time, which I really need to see from a character like Harry.

I hope this kid gets it. I hoped to be seeing more of him after Chronical which was a huge surprise for me.

    What no Jake Lloyd? Haha

  4. rjh094

He doesn't have to be as dark as his character in Chronicle, but he could possibly work. Depends if Dane and Andrew have that best friend vibe, ya know?

Dave Franco would be a better choice to play Harry Osborn.

I like the kid from chronicle. Not very well known and got that dark look to him.

@aces Rider Strong looks the part, also I think Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be a perfect choice for the Dark and Edgy Harry Osborn they are looking for. it;s time for them to get a Norman Osborn, Great Choices in my opinion will be: Michael Fassbender, Mel Gibson, Nicolas Cage and Christoph Waltz, What do you guys think?

He'll be 30 by the time the movie comes out, if they are keeping it all in high school

I can't 100% back up DeHaan for this. It just seems... off.

IF Brady Corbet doesn't work out, you could always get Rider Strong!

  14. Film Boof

Please let it be Dane DeHaan. He has so much potential for a role such as Harry, thanks to his performance in Chronicle. And by the way, I had an idea for the titles for the trilogy that sound better than 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' and 'The Amazing Spider-Man 3'... at least to me.

Nice to see they're bringing the Osbornes in. I think Norman will have a big role in the last film of the trilogy.

The kid from Chronicle could be good in this, he was also good in Lawless. The kid from Melancholia looks the part a bit more.
