The Adventures of Tintin director Steven Spielberg revealed recently that the sequel The Adventures of Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun will likely begin production at the end of this year for a holiday 2015 release. Steven Spielberg will be producing this time around, with Peter Jackson taking the helm. Here's what the producer had to say, teasing that they are combining two of Hergé's books into one story.

"Peter Jackson is directing the next one, I'm producing. We have a script and we're going to start performance capture probably at the end of this year. Don't hold me to it, but we're hoping the film will come out around Christmas-time in 2015. We know which books we're making, we can't share that now but we're combining two books which were always intended to be combined by Hergé."

This falls in line with what Peter Jackson said back in December, but many were speculating how the filmmaker would find the time to direct this motion-capture/animated adventure, with The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug slated for release this December, and The Hobbit: There and Back Again hitting theaters next holiday season.

While it hasn't been confirmed which two books will be combined, many believe it will be Prisoners of the Sun and Seven Crystal Balls. Steven Spielberg did hint that The Blue Lotus will likely be adapted for the Third Tintin Film.

The Adventures of Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun comes to theaters in 2015 and stars Andy Serkis, Jamie Bell. The film is directed by Peter Jackson.

My thoughts exactly, @thedude-abides. The first was a lot of fun and visually stimulating, but far too sloppy and reliant on you to either know the source material or be lost in the effects. With Jackson, we're almost guaranteed a slower paced, perhaps almost languish approach to this franchise, and that'd be absolutely perfect for me.

The first one was good, but very sloppy. It threw way too much at us at once. I'm much more looking forward to Jackson's sequel.
