You forgot #3 Illuminati, RDJ's portrayal is an extreme departure from the character Arthur Conan Doyle created.

lpusoldier5423 i KNOW Sherlock Holmes is going to suck; call it instinct, but i will check it out. If you want a tangible reason, i'll give you 2
    1. Guy Ritchie; when he made LOCK'STOCK back in 98 i felt like i did the first time i saw PULP FICTION. Amazed and satisfied. He glamorized the gangster's in a very brit/urban/authentic form. It was just pure fun. then SNATCH came out and although i loved it, i couldn't help but notice it was essentially LOCK STOCK with a better budget. The cut up-interlocking stories had been done before. His other stinkers of REVOLVER & ROCK'N'ROLLA simply proved what i suspected, Guy Ritchie (like QT)is a ONE-TRICK-PONY! All he had was SNATCH, anything he writes AND directs will fail.

    2. The Trailer; of sherlock holmes seemed to prove that Ritchie was the wrong director for a great story. I'm not a Holmes purist, infact a new twist to the old character is a welcome change. but THIS is just too much. Gunfights, swords play, qurky onliners, slow-mo action cuts, agitated speech. It seems that Ritchie is just over compensating distractions for the lack of an engaging story or characters.
It looks like SHANG HAI KNIGHTS version of Holmes. This is 'not my cup of tea'!

"D9" or "IB" will bag the screenplay award. The BP nominations for dramas is surprising. I thought for sure that "Invictus" and "The Road" would be nominated considering the amount of praise they've both been getting. Especially "The Road," panned completely. And it's rare that a film nominated for best director/actor/supporting actor doesn't get the BP nomination too. I can actually see "IB" winning this.

D9 will probably get nominated at the Oscars since there's 10 nominees this year...not saying it'll win, though.

Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange were awsome in Grey Gardens! Must see some of the others before I comment on nominations!

Tudors descendants in the audience. Are you one of them?

This is bullsh*t. Where the f*ck is District 9??!!
I was expecting Neill Blomkamp to be nominated as Best Director, Motion Pictures and Best Motion Pictures Drama.. I Hope That District 9 would win at least something this year...

I can never understand why they group comedy and musicals together at these award shows. They are two entirely different film genres.

i hope SHERLOCK HOLMES, PROPOSAL & INGLORIOUS BASTARDS wins NOTHING!!! Crap needs to be treated as such. Just associating this garbage next to decent films only brings down the standard.

What the heck? Where is Kaitlin Olson's nod for Best Female in a Comedy Series? She decimated everyone else in that catagory? No Breaking Bad? And did I miss something? Sherlock Holmes is neither a musical or a comedy. F*cking lame.

  16. Cripple

I agree. District 9 deserves best picture, best director, and best actor for Sharlto Copley. That movie was incredible, But hey, at least it got some recognition.

And what about Men who Stare at goats? I want Clooney and Bridges nominated for their performances, and best screenplay.

And I agree on sunny in philadelphia. Hilarious. Definitely should be up there.

district 9 was perfect, deserves more nominations

  18. Newkill3000

This is bullsh*t. Where the f*ck is District 9? And putting in Avatar as a nominee is just a whole scam. I wouldn't even be surprised if this movie wins just for best movie and gets wins for an Oscar, just to get more audience to see this sh*t. They did the same thing with Slumdog Millionaire.

  24. Raoul Duke

Once again...WHAT THE F*CK! Am I the only person on this planet that watches It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and understands the genius? This is INSANITY!

Glee, 30 Rock?! Modern Family!!!! Granted these are great shows and funny for their part, but come the f*ck on! Not even a nomination for Sunny's acting! All three of the guys; Rob, Glenn, and Charlie, should be up for nominations. And Kaitlin Olson is hands down the funniest woman on television today! A thousand times funnier than any one of those names up there that got nominated (though I'm a big fan of Edie Falco and Toni Collette.)

I mean, this is just getting ridiculous. This show should have 4 Emmys, going on 5. Kaitlin should have been winning best leading actress since season 1. Charlie, Glenn, and Rob should be placing bets on which one of them is gonna sweep this year.

I mean, clearly my opinion is insanely biased, I love this show like oxygen; but try and disagree with me. Name a funnier show on TV today than It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

    You can't do it.

And where the hell is South Park...and Metalocalypse! And F*cking Family Guy! What, just because they're animated means they get no love?

Best Comedy Series would RIGHTLY read something like this if the people voting actually WATCHED TV!!!

    South Park
    Metalocalypse
    Eastbound and Down
    Curb Your Enthusiasm
    It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

None of these shows are receiving love because they're too controversial to be aired before 10 pm or on basic cable. Well, F*CK THAT! Make a new category! Or stop being a bunch of sycophantic pussies and grow some f*cking nuts Award Shows!

    This is insanity...I feel nauseous.

I hate the Golden Globes. The whole system of splitting Musical/Comedy from Drama is ridiculous.

I'm glad to see so many nominations for Glee. Great show.

  26. ZanyZap

All sound about right. I didn't expect Robert Downey Jr. for Sherlock Holmes. Tobey's nomination should help his campaign at the Oscars, but he is still far from a lock, in my opinion. I'll have to start my predictions soon for winners, and then Oscar noms.

I could care less about the TV awards.
