The trades claim that Howard wanted too much money to return for the part. Howard didn't quite see it that way, stating:
"It was the surprise of a lifetime. There was no explanation. [The contract] just...up and vanished. I read something in the trades implicating that it was about money or something, but apparently the contracts that we write and sign aren't worth the paper that they're printed on, sometimes. Promises aren't kept, and good faith negotiations aren't always held up."

Iron Man 2 was released May 7th, 2010 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sam Rockwell, Mickey Rourke, Samuel L. Jackson, Clark Gregg. The film is directed by Jon Favreau.

The stupidest sequel movies are the ones that don't keep the original people in it. This is a prime example of this large Hollywood mistake that happens all the time. Not having Terence Howard return as the role that set up for War Machine is utterly stupid. Now Cheadle will have SO MUCH to prove, and I forsee that he will not meet expectations. Howard was ready to play War Machine, he wanted to do it in 1. But they told him no, that's for #2.

F*cking stupid decision, Terrance Howard is much better actor, and his bigger in size then Don Cheadle, and The Downey, wich War machine is, well Iron Man 2 is partially ruined, this decision unlike the Dark Knight with Katie Holes is so stupid.Thats why I don't like Jon Favreau, he's obviously dosen't care about the movie or his actors

dude you should of boycott the dark knight for that horrible writing i just got the dvd screener of the dark knight and this movie could of been a great movie but dark knight sucked. just like iron man was okay i mean i rather wait for the avengers. i wouldnt be surprise if downey dies of an drug od or they cut him off the picture due to the drug problem. only time will tell what will happen. but terrence howard was not a good pick anyway.

*ssholes on this thread Rock? lmao... don cheadle is a way better actor than terrance, and terrance is very good, so that's saying something. Don Cheadle has a strong voice and doesn't sound like he's about to cry like terrance does. If you watch any of his movies again, watch closely, I swear Terrance is trying not to cry cause his voice breaks up when he talks like he is sad.

Thats a huge mistake on their parts Howard was perfect has Rhodes he would of been War Machine, one of the flaws from the 1st Iron man is that i would of loved to see more Howard/Rhodes , I like Cheadle and all but i slithly think Howard is a better actor and frankly he doesnt really look like the milatary type , i have a hard time picture him in that role. and it`s pretty funny they would say he wanted more money , Don Vheadle probably get paid more then him.
