Terminator Salvation Snags $3 Million from Midnight Shows

While a new sci-fi/action franchise was rebooted at midnight last night and while it didn't terminate the record books, it still performed strongly. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Terminator Salvation took in an estimated $3 million from midnight screenings last night.

The film opens wide in 3,450 theaters today and it was projected that the film will break $70 million from the five-day holiday tally, although the film still does have some competition over the weekend.

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian is opening in 4,096 theaters tomorrow and the spoof comedy Dance Flick will open in an estimated 2,300 theaters on Friday as well.

Btw, in the 3rd film, the T800 (Arnold) tells John Connor in the motorhome (while driving to shut down Skynet) that he is killed by him in the future. Granted, a nice 2 second shock would have been cool in Salvation, but then again, I thought that all the new T800s were suppose to look like Arnold right? Like that model line looks like Arnolds and the T-1000 line all look like Robert Patrick I'm assuming. I don't know why they'd make hundreds of T800s and have each of them have a completely exterior uniqueness. Doesn't really make sense for a machines to care about what they look like lol. Since Connor has already seen Arnold's model twice now, I think it was more of him having good/fast reflects cause he pretty much tried to run away as soon as he encounters the T800. He knows what they will look like so why should be shocked? If the T800 would have spoken dialogue to him and said something that resemebled anything from the past conversations then, THEN I could see him being surprised/shocked. They shoulda have done that, but since they didn't, this "version" makes more sense.

I knew that the film was not going to be anything spectacular. I do not agree with all the critics harsh comments, but I do agree with the one on here about Bale seeing Arnold. There was absolutely zero recognition and I really wished he had the Arnold face a lot longer. It was mediocre at best (and I have to point out that some parts seemed along the lines of Transformers. Even to the point of sound effects). Bale seemed useless and soulless in his performance as well. Completely out of place as if he were the only reason this movie got the "go ahead." Hopefully someone better capable will take over the next one.

Too tired to write a full review....but overall I thought it was pretty damn cool. Acting left a little to be desired, and the editing was a bit choppy and unpolished in spots. Othere than that this was a pretty rugged terminaor flick that was nothing close to being as bad as some of the other critics (Harry Knowles) are making it out to be.

Hopefully we'll get an unrated version when it comes to bluray. I wanted more blood and gore and hardcore violence. But still, I had a great time watching it...looking forward to more.

I'm just looking forward to seeing the T-1000s in the next one and the introduction of time-travel.

the movie was meaningless.. Sam Worthington sucked because his character was nonsense and you could hear his Australian accent breaking through his American one. Christian Bale was bland but at least he used the batman voice. and Bryce Dallas Howard was gorgeous as always... thats it

To everyone who didn't like the /story. Remember this: it's from the writers of Terminator 3 or at least one of them. So I knew the story wouldn't be that great.

But it was fun and good. Altogether: 4 star to 4.4 movie.

Awesome! Really enjoyed it! Totally felt like the beginning of a trilogy, which of course is what's been planned from the beginning. Bring on the next one and DON'T, DON'T, DON'T time travel back to 2010 like I keep hearing!!! Continue the story right from where they are!

It was alright. I think we hyped it up too much so we were let down. Realistically, there isn't anything terribly wrong with the film. There is some predictable things that happen like the ending but the part where Marcus narrates at the end was very emotional, and was probably the best part. I think Christian overacted and he seemed strange in a few scenes lol. Sam Worthington was great. That guy will get a lot of good reviews and this will skyrocket his career hopefully. There aren't many "action" scenes in the movie as a whole, but there are a ton in the beginning. Like 3 I think at least, which was cool. Of course the "fight" between the T800, Connor and Marcus totally reminded me of T2. The Terminator tricks him with Kyle's voice in one part lol and there is even lava, and freezing, no joke. The graphics were obviously really good.

I don't know where I saw it, but I coulda swore Christian is signed to do more sequels correct? They said 3 right? So I'm assuming in the 2nd movie Kyle is grown up and Connor gives him the picture of his mother etc and this time around, they have the laser rifle technology that was shown in the flashbacks from the old movies.

I like when people such as ALNK2 say that if you hated something they liked then youre not really a fan of it. As if they are the authority on it and they decide whos a fan and whos not. Just amusing is all. Maybe even a little ignorant.

I honestly thought that the movie was good the action really great it's just that there was a few dead spots but that's just me overall I would go see this movie again. The ending was a lil predictable and I wish there was a little more interaction with Connor and kyle but who cares go see this movie lol

I have heard a lot of bad things about this movie. Critics said that it is a soulless, heartless, loud popcorn movie. I don't care what anyone says, I am definetly seeing this today, because I am a MASSIVE Terminator fan. I heard Sam Worthington was great and that's just about it. I also heard that the cinematography was great, along with incredible special effects, and McG had and still has potential, but this movie will probably dissapoint most. Also that they should've taken more time to right a better with better writers.
What does everybody think of this?

I do not think Dance Flick is 'competition'. Star Trek is still going pretty strong and has surpassed Wolverine domestically by four million. Terminator just might make $70 million considering it is a holiday weekend.

I was so underwhelmed by this movie. I mean for god sakes when John Conner fights Arnold he acts like he's never seen him before. It was a very emotionless action movie.
