In a story from Variety, the future of the Terminator franchise looks to be getting worked out.

Halcyon Holding Group announced today that it hopes to conclude the auction for the rights to the franchise by February 1 as part of its bankruptcy process.

"Over the past few weeks, Halcyon and its professionals have engaged in in-depth discussions and negotiations with numerous serious potential buyers, including several major movie studios," Halcyon stated. "In addition, a number of attractive refinancing alternatives have also been presented. In order to maximize the value of a transaction for all of the company's creditors and stakeholders, we are fully analyzing all these options."

One month ago, Halcyon had said that it would figure out by November 20 which offer would be the "stalking horse" and then set the minimum bid price for all the Terminator assets. This are "rights to future Terminator pics, TV series, DVDs and merchandise."

Halcyon says now that it isn't going to do that part of the process.

Terminator Salvation was released May 21st, 2009 and stars Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, Moon Bloodgood, Helena Bonham Carter, Anton Yelchin, Jadagrace, Bryce Dallas Howard, Common. The film is directed by McG.

No one, I was just saying it.

It'll be good for Lions gate to have this awesome franchise, if Sarah Conner series does come back then a few TV films would do the trick just to polish up everything.
It would be cool if McG and James teamed up.

CBF what did McG say about the plot developments?

They went bankrupt because they took out a large loan to make Terminator: Salvation and couldn't pay it back in time.

Why? Was the $100 million ticket sales not enough for Halycon for this franchise?

I think LionsGate will get it. The deadline is February 5th, and that's in like 2 weeks. And I think McG will do all he can to continue the second trilogy installment. Terminator 5 is going to be bad-ass if McG keeps his word about the plot developments.

    neal brennen?
sounds like a dennis dugan flick to me, starring sandler or spade as connor.

They should make the next Terminator movie a spin on The Life of Brian. Where the think they are hunting down the World's Savour, but he's actually a huge f*ck-up. Let Judd Apatow produce and Neal Brennan direct.

Avian, the Halycon company went bankrupt, that's why it's being sold. A better director won't do anything. Bale is overrated but that's just what i think.

Why sell it? Just get a better director. Although, I did like T4, but it did have some problems that did sour the experience. Bale could've been better if his throat wasn't damaged from playing Batman.

I think most haters didn't like Salvation just because of the director. There really is not reason to hate this film at all.

  18. I AM FRATSON

I feel the same way. I really enjoyed Salvation. I think the reason people are bitching is bc, like stated below, it was McG. Also, people like the being on the run type of style that made T1 and T2 what it was. But, like penguin said, they are focusing on the resistence. Everyone bitched about Bales role as Conner. He had no emotion. Humanity was losing the battle, they were losing what made them human. Conner realized this esp when Sam (Marcus) kept sacrificing himself and at the end gave his own life for Conners. The movie is very good. I am very excited to see the next 2, esp if they bring Robert Patrick in the way that was originally rumored.

despite being a fan of the first two films, I found the 4th outing to be not bad at all. I enjoyed the film as much as I could see without getting fired, it was a slow night and I did see the last hour of it.
I like McG despite what some people say about him, personally I didn't like Bale seemed he was trying to hard to be loud and annoying.

  24. penguin_9026

Salvation was a great film. The main reasons people bitched is McG was directing and Arnold wasnt starring. People also complained Bale sucked as John Connor. This new trilogy focuses more on the Resistance winning the war rather than only on Connor. I cant wait to see how the next story unfolds. I also think WB should buy this franchise because that would be the perfect fit.

  25. Chad Vital

Terminator Salvation is better than Terminator 3, so why are you guys bitching? Of course it's not exactly like Terminator 1 or 2 hello it was PG-13 for crying out loud, what did you expect? Stop being stupid about it and move on.

We fans should buy the franchise back and hand it to James Cameron and tell him, "make this, or else..." I know everyone LOVED the Charlie's Angels version...but come on.
