Terminator 5 in the Works!

Halcyon Co. heads Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek have confirmed they are developing a fifth installment in the Terminator franchise.

According to Variety, director McG, who directed the upcoming fourth film, Terminator Salvation, is working with the Halcyon duo on the latest project.

Announcement was among the news that came out of the Dubai Intl. Film Festival, which bowed Dec. 11 and runs through Thursday.

McG was in Dubai for the announcement, despite his well-known fear of flying, which led to him dropping out of the Oz-shot Superman Returns. He mentioned that incident in remarks during the announcement.

No decision has been made as to where to film the next Terminator, although the Middle East was mentioned as a locale.

When Anderson and Kubicek acquired the rights the lucrative Terminator franchise last year from previous owners C2, the former ad exec and banker envisaged the re-booted series as a trilogy. Christian Bale has signed on in the role of John Connor for all three roles. Newest pic is tentatively scheduled for a 2011 release.

Did a search on James Cameron on IMDB , and under In Devlopment Terminator 5 is listed there. But you can't gent any details unless you are a member of IMDbPro. I hope cameron is part of the project in some way. So that his ideas will be used in the next. Anyone know anything if James Cameron is part of the project in some way and not just listed at creator. I hope he is part of it.

    This makes T4 pointless.

I still hate that this means that T4 won't be a definitive end. Also, the only reason they're making this is that it won't be T5, it'll be T$.

There should be a sequel to Van Helsing. Summers wasn't the best since it was too flashy and campy. Look at BloodRynn, now that sucked and it spawned a sequel.
This franchise will continue no matter what. It's just beginning.
There will be 9 films, a failed tv show of which I enjoy and I missed the fall final. Which will be replaced by a spin off to set things right.
In my opinion Termintor is one of the best shows on tv. I think it's the fact that a lot of people just don't like the actress that is currently as Sara Conner. A lot of fans need to accept her no matter what they think. If there was a spin off it'll just be forcused on JOhn and the servivors of the holocast.

Because only a few dozen people liked Van Helsing lol It bombed with the critics, and there really isn't any need for a sequel. It was entertaining. The effects were done well, especially the werewolves, but it was really cheesy and not enough people are clamoring for a sequel

I wish to see a "Van Helsing" sequel. Why the hell won't anyone do THAT?! lolz! I'm serious, though. Pit him against like "The Mummy" and/or The Invisible Man, OR! Dracula might not really be dead? Eh, eh? Awwww. lolz. Seriously, though. Gimme a sequel. -.-

4 looks promising, but I think they should slow it down till the movie comes out. Everyone was creaming for the new Punisher, and once it came out, everybody hated it. Personally...I loved it, thats as accurate as your gonna get with Frank Castle.

Awesome! I just hope they don't over do this series. Stop at 5, unless there NEEDS to be more, which I doubt.

CBF, that's all true mate but I think john connor says in the trailer "this is not the future my mother warned me about" and kyle mentions other "possible futures" in the original. any tinkering with timelines must affect future history in some way. maybe by accelerating technological advances?

Even IF the new one is good, which I will freely admit when I see it, I don't think we need a whole other trilogy, you know?

Seriously though, i'm not sure if this could work cos it's already Judgement Day and the time period is set for the fourth film, so what could they do with the fifth? Return of Arnie? John Connor having a kid that will finally have the answer to the end of the war between machines and humans?

The T-600s can look like whoever, but when they show the T-800s, which had the more realistic, melanin skin, which I don't think should happen until the end of Salvation or in T5, that's Arnold's line and should defenitely have that bodybuilder dude with Arny's face CGI'd. Actually, he was a T-850, an 800 upgrade. So like I said, from what Reese explained in T1 we should only see the 600s line with the rubber skin.

No. I loved the original "Terminator" movies because they were in our time, and though the Terminators had their high-tech weapons, the humans didn't have all the stupid "High-Tech" devices to fight them. But now, the new one has the hover-crafts and all the over the top crap I don't like. There's only been two movies that I've said looked dumb that everyone else thinks looks great, too, and those are this one and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." You overlook the fact that both of us like a lot of the same movies, just because I disagree on two of them doesn't immediately mean that I hate all the movies you think look good.

Also, that is not the ONLY reason I think "Underworld 3: Rise of the Lycans" looks better. It has a lot of actors I like, like Bill Nighy, Rhona Mitra, and Michael Sheen. It's complicated to explain, but it's not just because of Vampires.

    3 years agoby @vampire2000Flag

  14. T.Clark

You just think Underworld 3 looks better cuz it has vampires...but whatever, people have their tastes. But, the entire Terminator franchise was a future series. The people were from the future, it was preparing for the future...I guess you just didn't like it because it actually wasn't set IN the future, which I don't get, because it's Earth either way, just a different time. I get uppity because the movies you think look dumb are good and the ones that look good are dumb...I guess it's all about "tastes." But, like I said, whatever...and like you said, I don't want to fight...sigh

And NO, I didn't think the trailer looked good. Why is THAT so hard to fathom? I mean really, not EVERYBODY is going to agree with you on movies. GET OVER IT! I don't want to see the movie, I think it looks bad, why can't I think a movie looks bad? I don't get it, you're always telling me you've never seen me see a movie that I don't like, but when I find one that I think looks dumb, you get all uppity about it. What's the deal?

And you're right, I'm not all up in arms about "Underworld 3: Rise of the Lycans" because that one LOOKS GOOD. In my view "Terminator Salvation" doesn't. I'll give you that Arnold might not have made the series, but he made it what it was for me. Plus, futuristic movies are stupid, in my view, with a few expressions. If I thought any movie with Christian Bale in it looked stupid, I wouldn't have liked "Batman Begins," "The Dark Knight," and "American Psycho." I'm not getting all pissy about this because of actors and such, I don't think it looks good AT ALL, and in my view, it is an abomination that shouldn't be in the series at all.

I'm not looking to get into a fight with you, but don't start preaching what YOU think at me.

  16. Vamp

Stop getting all f*cking pissy with me. I mean cripes, I don't yell at you people when you disagree. It's not that big of a f*cking deal if I don't like the damn movie. I'll say bah as many f*cking times as I feel like. You're not going to change my motherf*cking mind. GET OVER IT!

    3 years agoby @vampire2000Flag

  17. T.Clark

You're reminding me of Cell...you won't admit the trailer actually looked good, just like he won't admit that some remakes are actually great. I understand if you don't want to SEE IT because of Bale or no Arny, but don't say it's going to BAD just because of those things...the only person who can make a great story like this suck is the director, but McG's actually looking promising this time.

    3 years agoby @insertusernamehereFlag

  18. T.Clark

Stop saying "Bah!" You don't seem to be up in arms about the third underworld being a prequel without Kate Beckinsale. Why? Because it's still part of the same series. This is, too. I know you don't like Christian Bale, but get over it. IF the movie is bad, it'll be because of McG, not because of Bale or no physical appearance by Arny or the future storyline...all that is GOOD for the Terminator series because it's been a part of it from the get-go...only the director can take something great like that and f*ck it up, but so far, it's looking good

Everyone knows the fourth installment is going to be great and make a lot of money at the box office. I personally do not see the problem with planning a fifth installment already. Look at Iron Man, they are already planning two sequels. I look forward to anything with Christian Bale.
