Terminator 5, which is set to be directed by Justin Lin and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, has found itself in the middle of a bidding war between Lionsgate and Megan Ellison's Annapurna Films.

It isn't quite clear yet where this proposed reboot will land. It looked like it was Lionsgate's project to ruin after the studio offered an upfront payment of $29.5 million to current title owners Pacificor, which would have been half of what they spent to original acquire the property. Megan Ellison came in late with a higher bid. The two studios are now fighting it out.

The deal will be closed shortly, and according to Deadline, when this happens, Terminator 5 will move onto the Cannes Marketplace, where Arnold Schwarzenegger already has two other films in play: Last Stand and Cry Macho.

Terminator 5 is in development and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Even though I highly enjoyed the Salvation film, unlike most on here, I think we need Arnold back to make number 5 a blast to watch! He was made for the role, no doubt about it, and certainly not against seeing Bale return as JC either.

I love older stars like Arnold, Willis, Stalone, tommee lee jones and i want to see them back with their exciting, harsh, breathtaking and thier incredible acts in movies, for Arnold i should say that nothing movie until now was like his Terminator 2 movie co-staring with that terrifying murcery man that i like him much and would like to see him in movies much, both of them were ultra incredible in this movie, these stars are so perfect, their personalities in their real life and movies and mercy which they have toward bad guys some times and devoting themselves and taking away criminal people, Arnold is the leading star in cinema and his angelic and kindly face and personal characters and his bravery in movies is indescribable

I can't wait to see the preview for it either. Although, that wont be for a while, meaning until a preview for it is released.

Bidding War - great... eye's roll.
It's cool what Justin wants to do but I could think of something better than time travel. Like keep it in the future. Sick and tired of time Travel films.

As much as I like Arnold in his movies. I don't like this take there making with him as the front runner. True that the last Terminator movie was cool but didn't feel like a Terminator movie until we saw Arnold (super in posed of corse) for those so called 2 min of film. It just felt like he was there just enough to show that it was a Terminator movie. But I'm truly not up set with bring back Arnold I just hate the fact that in took 4 films to get us to the future and now we might have to go back for a sub plot movie.

@caifa that would be nice, if he can clean up his act... that is one reason or rumor why he was not cast in terminator 3 because he was having issues with substance abuse.

Its stupid to start over and forget the events of T3 and Salvation like this *sshole has talked about doing. Salvation was a great starting point. It laid a pretty good background to the original 2 but also shows things can change, which was sorta the point of having Marcus the main character. It shows that John Connor has to be aware of any possible change that can happen in the war against Skynet. I wanna see the continuation of how things lead up to Bale as Connor training Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese to prepare for what their destinies will lead to. Continue to show how the events lead up to how the terminators advance and how time travel comes into place.

@incmob lol. I agree with the metal opposed to plastic transformers thing. Metal ones are nicer but the paint wears away fast. I loved Salvation I just didn't like that it focused more on Marcus Wright than John Connor. All of the trailers and promotional stuff made it seem likr it would focus on mainly on Connor.

Don't believe anything this old fart posts. It's obviously not a reboot if it has the number 5 attached to it.

@jptheredskull Naw man I enjoyed it but I was hoping to see what happened after, like if the war was won and how yanno, but we gotta reboot every goddamn thing these days lol that is if it's even going to be a reboot

@jptheredskull...i liked salvation as well, i thought it was a good starting point to the war

As for the companies, id go with Loinsgate, they are better known and their films getaway with more blood and such, even their animated films , we can get a Rated R Termintor film from them for sure

@jptheredskull no your not :) again, and call me a broken record, but it was a huge leap from T3 which for some reason just seemed off. it had promise in many scenes, but ultimately seemed liked a parody of itself, and just didnt feel like it had the magic that james cameron created with the first two.

Salvation had its flaws... i admit that much, but there is not a damn near perfect movie in my opinion with the exception of maybe goodfellas, or dark knight, or full metal jacket just to name a few from different genres. But salvation had many elements from camerons films, except the time travel aspect, which in my opinion did not serve a purpose when you are starting and ending the film with the war. Yes i would have liked to have seen the end where kyle reese and the terminator go back, and yes i vaguely saw connor as this resistance leader so to speak as was addressed in the other films (more like the resistance rebel) and felt marcus was the main character in the film, but overall i was pleased, maybe not as much as popping in the vhs of terminator in 1984 for the first time, or sitting in a theatre opening weekend of T2, but felt much better coming out of salvation than i did at the beginning moments of T3... but i digress and @jptheredskull there will be naysayers even when the new film comes to fruition and is released even from those that clamored for arnold to come back, and then disappointed by the end of the film that they did. Yes the haters could do more by hating say... minced meat pie, or hating the fact that transformers are made of plastic instead of metal these days, or maybe even hating the fact that there really is no pot of gold at the end of a rainbow... hmmm, ranting again... sorry.

They should just go with Lionsgate. Annapurna Films would probably not be the best choice for Terminator 5.
