Terminator 3000 Halted by Cease and Desist Order

We reported yesterday that Hannover House and Red Bear Entertainment were making a new 3D animated film based off The Terminator called Terminator 3000 and now Deadline New York is reporting that Pacificor, the company which holds the rights to the franchise, has issued a cease and desist order to stop the film.

Hannover House CEO Eric Parkinson told the site that the news made public because solely because one of the potential partners in the project had spoken publicly about it, and that he was still awaiting word from William Morris Endeavor, the agency that is representing Pacificor. He also said that he had "proprietary rights" to make the film in the animated format, since he once headed up the home video division of Hemdale, which made the original Terminator film.

"The animation rights were excluded when Hemdale sold Terminator to Carolco and when I left Hemdale, part of my settlement was that I got those rights," Hannover told me. "However, the way the rest of the contractual rights are written, it would be dangerous for us to do this without Pacificor's approval. They have certain intellectual rights. The best way to put it is, they can't make an animated film without me, and we might not be able to make it without them. We are in discussions with WME, and hope we can deal with this expeditiously."

Parkinson also told the site that he had received the cease and desist order and made Pacificor aware of his rights to make the film, which would entitled Pacificor to a large fee if the film is made.

"We've arranged a meeting, we'll show them our money and if the rational brain prevails, they'll take the deal. If not, I can't do it without them. You'll have a followup next week that we are either holding hands, or not doing the film. At least we now have our meeting. I hope they will can think outside the box, because if we can make a movie that delivers a $20 million to $30 million rights payment, that is an income source they didn't realize was possible. If not, it was a good idea anyway."

The Terminator was released October 26th, 1984 and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Biehn, Linda Hamilton, Paul Winfield, Lance Henriksen, Bess Motta, Earl Boen, Rick Rossovich. The film is directed by James Cameron.

I like the clone wars. Specially the further it got. Season 2 was actually good. Much darker than season 1. Some people just hate it because it's linked to the prequels.

Wasn't the clone wars animated film made for the younger viewers so they can release the series? Why hate on something that was just for kids?

I erase my first thought so i'm going to say this, finish the terminator franchise were John finds a way to stop the machine with an epic emotional strike. Finish were McG lefted off, no redo we gotten this far lets finish it.

Man, I'm leaving on vacation. Somehow you all pulled me into a discussion about the two franchises that I thought were phenomenal and then Hollywood dumbed down with ratings and rushed productions. How the hell did Lucas put that out after he'd been setting on it that long? See, there I go again... peace out all and have a great week. :)

I wanna know why Lucas pu$$ed out and cut the scene with Anakin slaughtering all the padawans. Yeah, I get that they didn't want it to be rated "R". For F'K sakes, he's only showing the transition of the biggest, baddest, movie villain of all time... show your balls and go for the "R" rating. It's a big middle finger to Hollywood, which is what he started out saying he was all about. Either way, still don't think it would've came off right. The acting was f'ing horrible. This is one time where if you said, if you could've done it better, then do it"... and I f'ing would!

clone wars as a live action movie and a better plot would have been supreme, i wouldnt mind McG coming back on TS part 2 lionsgate will save itt but the cgi animation would resemble clone wars in a way which was fine but not fine

The actual meat of the Clone Wars was what I wanted to see with the live action prequel movies. While we did get to see the beginning of it (and I think the tail end?), it seemed like the tastiest part was left out. Besides the horrendous acting, and the now cheesy looking special effects (in comparison with more modern sci fi), that part irked me, as well.

Some people think Terminator 1 was the best. I think they both were great and do think it should have ended with 2 but i'll watch anything terminator anyhow.

i agree with alot of people, for me the series ended with terminator 2, it was by far the best ending in the series and the best one out of the four period,

And it'll show Jake Conner and the Avaterminator playing with flowers and swimming in the lake, and hunting boar with mini guns.

@Yentz ... Very nice! I'd say roll with it and start typing up the screenplay now. You may violate a million or so copyright laws, but it sounds better than an animated "PG-13" $HITFEST. Before anyone catches it and comments... I didn't mention anything about T3 because I only liked the ending. And by ending, I don't mean when the bombs went off, I mean the F'ING CREDITS!

  28. Bryan Yentz

You know what? I think James Cameron is gonna pick this one up, but then re-title it "Avaterminator" and its gonna be about this race of blue cat-people who send one of their own back all naked an' such to stop the humans from ever finding their home of Pandora. He'll have to find a young, yet still crippled version of Jake (who will now be deemed Jake Connor), all the while fending off the constant attacks of an evil Aviterminator named T-2000: an antagonist who can liquefy his body and turn into whoever he wants, but instead just rattles about spirit trees for a good hour-and-a-half... BUT DON'T WORRY! It won't be the same as Terminator 2 because it will have fancy CG and blue-cat people! SO DON'T WORRY!

@Bawnianxyz its because he ended the series with terminator 2. In the storyline of terminator 2, they stopped judgment day from happening. Ever. Thats why cameron didnt go forward with a third one.
