Paramount has hired writing duo Art Marcum and Matt Holloway to reimagine a new possible franchise Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, reports Deadline.

"The studio is looking at this as its next huge franchise, like Transformers," a source said.

Paramount's Adam Goodman is fast-tracking and wants a first draft by October so the studio can take it out to directors right away for a 2012 release.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is considered one of the most popular children's television programs of the 1980s, and was created in 1984 by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. It first debuted as a successful comic book series and then became a hit animated TV show, a live-action television series, three live-action films distributed by New Line (1990-1993), and a recent CGI film distributed by Warner Bros.

Ninja Turtles comes to theaters December 25th, 2013. The film is directed by Jonathan Liebesman.

might be good. hopefully the costumes will be traditional costumes with cgi motion capture faces or heads... too much cgi can make a film look really bad.

Yea just call it ''Ninja Turtles'' I mean ''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'' I mean We all know they're teenagers and mutants we don't to be reminded every time and give them actual ages like 15 seeing that they're youngest characters in the franchise

hell yeah, im up for another tmnt live action film, as long as its to the tone of the original, maybe even darker more stylised fighting scenes and ass whooping, and not to the kiddie sequels that came after it...

i hope the past rumor that michael bay and his platinum dunes wanted to produce, for gods sake keep him away from this franchise
