"I'm off to Beijing [soon] to work on a film," actress Taraji P. Henson revealed to us Sunday afternoon on the red carpet of the MTV Movie Awards. "They're remaking The Karate Kid."
The site revealed that Henson, who was nominated for an Oscar for her supporting performance in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, was set to play Sherry, the mother to the lead character, who is being portrayed by Jaden Smith.
It was also said that Henson's character Sherry is forced to move with her son to Beijing to keep her job.
The Karate Kid was released June 11th, 2010 and stars Jaden Smith, Jackie Chan, Taraji P. Henson, Wenwen Han, Rongguang Yu, Zhensu Wu, Zhiheng Wang, Zhenwei Wang. The film is directed by Harald Zwart.

Jackie Chan is playing the mentor role. Notice how I said mentor? That's cuz it's literally NOT Miyagi. It's another character.
Not even messing. They reported it a couple weeks back on this site.
This movie has massive epic fail written all over it. Will Smith can do no wrong, but his son and whoever decided to make this, well they're just cursed.
