Taking a Look at the Pirates of the Caribbean Blu-ray Discs
Walt Disney Home Entertainment presents Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest available for the first time in high-definition on 75GB Blu-ray(TM) 2-disc set on May 22. Pioneering and inventive high-definition bonus features include the ground-breaking live-action pirate's game that utilizes artificial intelligence, Liar's Dice, plus a playfully mischievous animated Jolly Roger host, who will navigate you through the rough seas and exciting features of this rousing Blu-ray experience. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest Blu-ray 2-Disc set will be available for the SRP of $34.99.
The Blu-ray Disc high definition feature film presentations of Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest were created from the original digital source files, a breakthrough that will deliver a truly unique viewing experience in crystal-clear 1080p (the number 1080 represents 1,080 lines of vertical resolution, while the letter "p" stands for progressive scan). Thrill to the crashing oceans and be astounded with the 5.1 channel surround, 48 kHz, 24-bit uncompressed audio as swords clash and the pursuit of Captain Jack reaches a fever-pitch. You'll feel like you're really there, thanks to Blu-ray High Definition.
For the first time ever on Blu-ray Disc, a computer animated host has been created to guide you through your Blu-ray experience. Your pirate adventure begins with the devilish Jolly Roger host, a "living" talking skull and crossbones so realistic you just might want to jump ship. While staring you down with cold, empty eye sockets, the Jolly Roger steers you through your Blu-ray Disc experience and into the world of the Pirates of the Caribbean as you have never seen before. Should you be the slightest bit hesitant with your decisions on where to set sail first, the Jolly Roger senses your fear, and is quick to respond with wise-cracks on whether or not you are truly brave enough to continue your journey. Much like the characters in this highly-anticipated sequel, a creepy voodoo doll hangs from his headscarf, while two torches burn brightly behind his hollow skull.
