Sony Pictures Home Entertainment pulled a clean sweep on the home video charts for the second week in a row with Takers topping the DVD sales, DVD rentals and Blu-ray sales charts, for the week ending January 23.The Social Network, which pulled off the three-chart sweep last week, was knocked back to second place on all three charts. Three Sony titles made the top 5 in DVD sales with the action-adventure Salt taking fourth place. Salt also took third place on the Blu-ray sales charts.
The only other notable new release this week was the Lionsgate thriller Buried, which debuted in third place on the DVD rental charts and seventh place on the Blu-ray sales charts. Buried was only released in a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack and didn't even crack the top 20 in DVD sales, finishing 24th.
On the Blu-ray sales charts, Takers debuted with a healthy 32% of its total sales coming in the high-def format. 38% of The Social Network's sales came in 1080p.
Takers was released August 27th, 2010 and stars Chris Brown, Hayden Christensen, Matt Dillon, Michael Ealy, Idris Elba, Steve Harris, T.I., Jay Hernandez. The film is directed by John Luessenhop.
