Taken 3 is in the works according to writer Robert Mark Kamen
"We didn't start talking about [Taken 3] until we saw the numbers. But then we said, 'Oh, okay. I think we should do a third one.' And Fox wants us to do a third one."
While the script hasn't been officially commissioned yet, the writer does plan on taking the third action-thriller in a completely new direction.
"We've taken everyone we can take - it's going to go in another direction. Should be interesting."
It isn't known if Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, and Famke Janssen will reprise their roles for this third endeavor. Maybe this family will do the taking this time around.
Taken 2 was released October 5th, 2012 and stars Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, Famke Janssen, Leland Orser, Jon Gries, D.B. Sweeney, Luke Grimes, Rade Serbedzija. The film is directed by Olivier Megaton.

I think it's really cool that they are turning Taken into a trilogy. I really hope that Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, and Famke Janssen come back because it won't be the same without them. So can't wait!!!!

Also I loved the original but like @skywise I find that while it's a great "Sam fisher in Splinter Cell Conviction-esque" story arc, it was actually pretty low on action and the pacing wasn't as great after the original viewing, where this new one which i recently saw is far better paced. Yeah the plot is simple but it's more of a mix between oldschool action thrillers and new school spy films. Which is not a bad thing unless you can't suspend reality long enough to just enjoy a good action thriller(which honestly sounds more like a personal problem lol)

It's funny, they are still making Die Hard movies so I don't see a reason for this to become a franchise. Infact the latest one felt like a cross between a Bourne film and a Die Hard film so they can totally make a sequel. Plus the character he plays is basically a bodyguard for hire at this point and so you can always write a fascinating story around a job gone bad or something of that nature.

I enjoyed the first movie for what it was, a brazen action film but honestly, after watching it several times I find the original not so great. I mean I love the fact that Liam's character is willing to do some pretty nasty things to get his duaghter back but it seemed sort of shallow (after several viewings)

That's retarded. You do a sequel because you have great ideas- not for money. I enjoyed Taken 2, but goddamn a third (even though i saw it coming) seems overkill. But hey, I know I'll see it for damn sure.
