The plot revolves around an ordinary guy who takes the law into his own hands after muggers attack his wife and daughter. No word on whether Jeff Goldblum will be reprising his role as one of the muggers. Michael Ferris and John Brancato are writing this updated remake for MGM.
MGM's Rick Sands stated, "We are looking at our library to determine which potential franchise properties make the most sense for us to produce, and Death Wish was clearly one that jumped out. We hope to get a deal done with Sylvester Stallone to direct and star, and like the Rocky and Rambo films, we see this as another potential franchise for him."
The film is scheduled to go into production in March of 2008. That is, unless the writer's strike is not yet over at that time.

I think that it makes alot of since for Stallone to star in the re-make of Death Wish. He certainly looks the part and I don't think ppl will criticize him as far as acting goes,because eventhough Charles bronson make the Death Wish movies a Franchize hit with his tough-guy persona,he did not have to give a dramatic performance to make the movies believeable.
On a side note; I am waiting to see Rambo: To Hell and Back.

Why does Hollywood have to mess with a Bronson movie? My dad had me growing up watching his movies with him. If they are going to remake Death Wish they should at least go with a younger actor. Maybe even an unknown, or someone who is usually co-starring. If they could get the RIGHT director and writers for this movie, I think it could do well.

stallone is great but it the whole franchise thing...not him. he has 2..one is done and the other is next. he needs some different roles. oh and death wish belongs to bronson....if they were to remake it, they should at least get another young guy to do it...that's like remaking rocky with harrison ford! i do have a remake idea....yall tell me what you think...Tango & Cash...with the Rock (tango) and Stone Cold (stone cold)holla back!
