Sylvester Stallone Gives Some Insight Into His Death Wish Remake

While Sylvester Stallone was out promoting his upcoming Rambo, IGN.com asked him what we could expect from his version of the classic Charles Bronson flick Death Wish. It's been reported that Stallone will both direct and star in the remake Here's what Sly had to say about the project.

"I'll give you a little hint," Stallone said. "He was a very violent human being, completely violent, an ex convict who walked the walk, was accepted back into society and did everything he could to be a [good person] like these thieves and junkies who now work on the side of the law. They've gone that way, but when something happens he reverts back to that guy."

Stallone did not confirm that this was going into production anytime soon, though he did offer more on his vision for the movie.

"I think Death Wish, if it were done today, would be volcanic," Stallone said. "The idea of Jeff Goldblum being a mugger who breaks into an apartment is very simplistic. It gives you an idea how bad the elevation of violence has become. I would focus on defense attorneys, I would focus on [the people] allowing this crap to happen -- not so much the guy on the street. It's like, 'Who permits it?'

"What if it happened to you, that your daughter was grabbed and her eyes were put out? Would you want to sit there and defend that guy?"

He went on to add, "There's moral questions here that are being presented that have not been answered in 30 years. So by no means is it the pacifist [origin of the original]."

i agree, it does sound like he has some insight that could make an imteresting movie, but still... its sylvester stallone. hes not exactly one of the great minds of the 21st century, so even if he has a great idea he maynot be able to translate it to film as well as he hopes, and even if he does, it would still be sylvester stallone up on screen doing the character. i could have more faith in it if he was just producing it, and got some great talents to help him bring his vision to life without making himself the center of the movie.

the only time i was ever really impressed by him as an actor was in copland, in which he was great, but thats the only one.

I dont like the fact that its all in stallone's hands, but I am for a remake, "Death Wish" was made back in 1974, although Bronson made this movie great, a lot of the vigilante scenes were a little soft as is to be expected of a 30+ year old movie, so I do agree that a modern day "Death Wish" will be as sylvester says "volcanic"

with today's technology and the publics allowance and tolerance for violence, it could make this movie very explosive

Ok, Bronson is a classic. But if I look at the NEW Rambo I think Stallone is the only one I would trust to do that remake right. Since he doesn't seem to care how much violence the studio want's to see and does what must be done. I look forward to see that........
