CBS announced today a February premiere date for the next Survivor and ordered two more editions of the series for broadcast during the 2012-2013 season. The broadcasts next season will mark the 25th and 26th editions of television's longest-running hit reality competition series.

Emmy Award winner Jeff Probst will return as host and executive producer for all three upcoming cycles. Probst has hosted Survivor since its inception in May 2000.

In its 23rd edition, Survivor continues to be a strong ratings performer, currently ranking as the #2 reality series on television in adults 18-49. This fall's Survivor: South Pacific is averaging 12.27 million viewers, 3.8/11 in adults 18-49 and 5.1/13 in adults 25-54.

"Survivor is an outstanding franchise," said Jennifer Bresnan, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, CBS Entertainment. "Its format guarantees fresh characters, exotic places and fascinating social dynamics every season. And, the show is backed by an A-plus production team that is as passionate as the die hard Survivor fans. All of us at CBS are incredibly proud of Survivor's ongoing success."

"I am extremely proud of the continuing success of Survivor, which is due to the immense loyalty of our millions of fans," said executive producer Mark Burnett. "We are excited to offer two more seasons of Survivor and look forward to entertaining audiences for years to come."

"I am thrilled to continue working on the longest-running reality competition show with the world's greatest adventure crew for two more seasons," said host and executive producer Jeff Probst. "We are so thankful for the supportive fans who remain with us every season, and we promise to deliver another year of quality television."

The 24th edition of Survivor premieres Wednesday, Feb. 15 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT).

The innovative reality series won an Emmy Award in 2001 in the category of "Outstanding Non-Fiction Program" (Special Class). Host Jeff Probst is a four-time Emmy Award winner in the category of "Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Series."

Survivor is produced by SEG, Inc. Mark Burnett, Jeff Probst and David Burris are executive producers.

@slysnide Everyone playing the game now I don't care too much for. I liked Jim a lot but he's gone. If Ozzy doesn't take the win, I'd like to maybe see Albert win. He seems to have a good strategy flow. But, he's failed 3 times now to send Edna off, so thats not too good of gameplay. On the bright side, once this season ends....a new one starts weeks after!

@corey: I'm not so sure about that. Cochran is so much of a pariah that nobody would vote for him on the jury, besides Dawn perhaps. So I can see them dragging him along to the end. Though I find it laughable they can't see his motives for flipping. Ozzy on the other hand is really arrogant, and it's because of that that Coach saw through his bullsh*t explanation about why he ended up being voted out. I mean of course it wouldn't make sense for people to turn against the great Ozzy. :P Meanwhile, it was also hilarious how foolish everyone thought his plan was, as the strongest player to go to redemption, but it was a brilliant idea for the weakest player (cochran) to go there. ;) ;) So far I see through Coach's kumbaya bullsh*t. Same with Edna, and I like Albert for using his head. But I don't have a favorite to win. This final 3 scenario that's been presented always screws up the formula.

@slysnide Keith, Jim, Ozzy, and Whitney are my favorites this season. Since Jim and Keith are on Jury now, that leaves it up to Ozzy to win at Redemption and return to the game. He'll be facing off against Whitney and Dawn next, and I'm almost positive he'll beat them (My poor Whitney). The guy is a beat....and I hope he wins this season. I hate Cochran, but I have a small respect for his smart way for playing the game. He'll never make final 3 though.

@corey: I like this cult thing that Coach has got going on. The thing I like about that show is watching people tear each other apart, ignoring previous seasons of the show where the same scenarios play out over and over, yet the new contestants always fall into the same traps. I think it's funny that everyone turned on Cochran after treating him like sh*t. Guaranteed if any one of those 4 made it to the finals they'd never vote for cochran, so I'd screw them over too. :P
