Supermax Goes to Columbia Pictures

Bloody Disgusting broke the news today that screenwriting duo Christopher Allen Nelson and Mitch Rouse have sold their original spec horror screenplay Supermax to Columbia Pictures. The film is being executive produced by DeVon Franklin and Doug Belgard for Sony and executive produced by Sean Robins and Todd Garner for Broken Road Productions.

The film takes place in a maximum-security prison where super natural criminals are held. A prison guard is forced to join forces with a lethal inmate after a riot ensues in the jail. The two men must fight their way through an army of monsters and mad men to make it out alive.

The film is scheduled to being shooting in early 2010.

Fallen, Riot is being rumored to be released in 2011. Fortunately, we might not have to wait that long to see Carpenter back in action. The Ward is being scheduled to be released next year.

that is weird, i mean if WB already had a Supermax of its own planned how could they legally make another movie with the same name and almost same premise, unless its the same $cript just tweaked? idk.

Speaking of John Carpenter, I wonder whats up with Riot.

And yeah, this has the same premise and title as the one in DC. Rip offs!

Now, i know that this is just a rip off of John Carpenter's classic Assault on Precinct 13.

This has the same title as what was to be the debut vehicle for Green Arrow... I don't know what happened after David Goyer let go of it... if this is the same movie, then sh*t...

ummmmm right. Wasnt this originally written by Justin Marks, at Warner Bros, set within the DC universe and star the Green Arrow?
