Superman/Batman: Public Enemies to Be Next DC Animated Film After Green Lantern: First Flight

Warner Home Video and DC Comics have been going to town with their animated direct-to-DVD films, and they've just been getting better and better as time goes on, with their latest release, Wonder Woman, possibly the best to date, and Green Lantern: First Flight looking equally promising. Now, according to Harry Knowles at Ain't It Cool News, we know that the next animated film will be Superman/Batman: Public Enemies.

The synopsis for the film reads as follows:
United States President Lex Luthor uses the oncoming trajectory of a kryptonite asteroid to frame Superman and declare a $1 billion bounty on the heads of the Man of Steel and his "partner in crime" Batman. Super heroes and super villains alike launch a relentless pursuit of Superman and Batman, who must unite - and recruit super help - to stave off the action-packed onslaught, stop the asteroid, and uncover Luthor's devious plot to take command of far more than North America.

The synopsis suggests that the film will be based on the storyline from the Superman/Batman comic series from Jeff Loeb and Ed McGuinness. While on the one hand, it's a little disappointing after Wonder Woman and Green Lantern: First Flight to see that they're going back to adapting comic storylines instead of creating new ones, it's always interesting to see what is coming out the DC Animated Universe.

    I agree with dfella

Kevin Conroy IS the voice of Batman. Gotta have him

Nice. This sounds like a good chance to see some lesser known arcs explored without the studio haveing to make full films. Although I wish they would sink enough money into these to make them 100 minutes instead of 70.

Jeremy Sisto and Kyle MacLachlan were PERFECT for fifties Batman and Superman, so quit bitching. They probably won't be in this one anyway.

Michale Turner didn't draw "Public Enemies," he drew the next storyline, "Supergirl"

So now this one is confirmed? Sweet, I wonder if The Flash will follow or Teen Titans which they have yet to release (its finished and sitting on the shelf). This will be a great title, as it is the first story straight from the S/B comic and features the art of the late great Michael Turner. Can't wait. These are great DVD movies, I own every one and they have yet to disappoint.

Should be really good. The comic was great, and after Jeph Loeb left that series, I lost interest and stopped buying. They should do animated features of all four of his storylines
