When Warner Home Video debuted the first trailer for Superman: Unbound last week, we still didn't know when this new animated adventure will debut. The studio has announced today that the Blu-ray and DVD will hit the shelves May 7. Although we don't have special features details yet, you can take a look at the cover art and plot details below.

Based on the Geoff Johns/Gary Frank 2008 release "Superman: Brainiac," Superman: Unbound finds the horrific force responsible for the destruction of Krypton - Brainiac - descending upon Earth. Brainiac has crossed the universe, collecting cities from interesting planets - Kandor, included - and now the all-knowing, ever-evolving android has his sights fixed on Metropolis. Superman must summon all of his physical and intellectual resources to protect his city, the love of his life, and his newly-arrived cousin, Supergirl.

The film's stellar voicecast is led by Matthew Bomer (White Collar) as Superman, John Noble (Fringe, The Lord of the Rings films) as Brainiac, Stana Katic (Castle) as Lois Lane and Molly C. Quinn (Castle) as Supergirl.

Supervising Producer James Tucker (Justice League, Batman: The Brave and The Bold) also directs the film from a script by Bob Goodman (Warehouse 13, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2.

Superman: Unbound was released May 7th, 2013 and stars Matthew Bomer, Stana Katic, Molly C. Quinn, John Noble. The film is directed by James Tucker.

Without a doubt this should do pretty well on dvd, so when Man Of Steel becomes a success this story should be used as a template for a Man Of Steel sequel because I've been dying for years to see Super girl and Brainiac on the big screen.

The artwork for the cover looks good. But doesn't seem like the movie itself will be enjoyable
