Superman Solely in the Hands of Zack Snyder

At a recent reception in Hollywood for the Blu-ray and DVD release of Inception, which hits on December 7th, Hitfix caught up with Christopher Nolan's wife and producing partner Emma Thomas, who revealed that her husband will have no creative input when it comes to Zack Snyder's reboot of Superman.

While Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer wrote the screenplay for Superman, it will be completely in the hands of Snyder. Emma explained that Christopher and David have hit upon an idea that has never been explored by Warner Bros. before. But Nolan is far too busy with his own sequel The Dark Knight Rises to offer any further help in getting the project off the ground. They have completely handed off the idea to Snyder, who will be the sole creative force behind getting it to the screen. There will be no collaboration between the two maverick directors.

In other news stemming from the Inception reception, Thompson on Hollywood learned that Hans Zimmer will be scoring the Superman reboot.

Man of Steel comes to theaters June 14th, 2013 and stars Henry Cavill, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe, Julia Ormond. The film is directed by Zack Snyder.

BREAKING NEWS: TMZ earlier today has confirmed the announcement made by Warner Bros. that British actor Henry Cavill has been locked in to play the Man of Steel. Since I don't know where or how to e-mail MovieWeb with this information, this will have to do for now I suppose, assuming the website staff takes notice of this post on an article from two months ago.

Sequel to Superman Returns with returning cast, and world-wide braniac attack would be good. The idea of a prequel is working against what the last movie built, and in my opinion, the lack of action was it's main lacking feature, but bringing back the same atmosphere and a proper bad guy would still be kick-ass in my opinion

The Mime finds it interesting where, in the beginning when people heard the Zack is going to be directing this, they went nuts and saying "it's not right" or "Not him!" or sh*t like that. But it took only a certain amount of time for the same people to become the I-thought-wrong, kiss-a$$ jacka$$es they are now, saying that it is a "match made in heaven" and s4!t like that"...... Think before saying sh!t, b!jes.....

Back on the subject..... Just can't wait to see how he applies his skills on this one....Guaranteed Awesomeness....

No matter who's scoring, I don't think I'll ever be able to watch a Superman film that doesn't have the iconic theme in front of it and still accept it as a real Superman film. Reboot or no.

The new Batman films were missing that same kind of gripping, epic score that Danny Elfman delivered over 2 decades ago and while some were disappointed by this move, they eventually got past it. If Hans Zimmer ends up doing the same thing here, however, I think the negative reaction to a themeless Superman will be much, much larger and most won't be as forgiving with him on this.

  7. The Narrator: The Better Man

    Hans Zimmer scoring? Epic.

Anyways, agreed @CBF. This really isn't news. People expecting Nolan to be on set and supervise the film don't fully understand how these things work. As @ejk said, Nolan has done as much as he possibly can without going to far. Zack is director, and people need to understand that he is the big swinging dick on set. Nolan already co-wrote the film, pitched it to the studio, and gave the job to Snyder. Nothing much for him to do. Those doubting Snyder's abilities are doubting Nolan's judgement as well. Not saying either are flawless, but I think this is about as even a match-up as can be made (for a superhero film that is).

I'm psyched for this, more now than ever, since Zimmer is scoring.

  18. The Real Lex Luthor

Yea why is this even news? We all kinda knew this already didnt we?

I mean that's why they picked a director so he could go off, and make the movie from their story... If not then Nolan would have just directed it himself.... Would have liked that more actually then Zack but hey can't be worse then Singerman Returns right?

Well folks, this is f*cked. It was nice to think that someone with a talent for storytelling would actually have a hand in bringing one of the most difficult characters to communicate to an audience to a new generation. Get ready for the first movie with more slo-motion/ramping than actual regular speed footage. Maybe Snyder will save himself the chance for failure and get rid of the dialogue.

In all reality, things aren't this dire, Snyder has talents, but what I've seen of him doesn't inspire hope for this kind of film.

Action never matters more than story. If a movie isn't entertaining without constant action, it sucks. Case and point, Transformers and Watchmen, where the acting was so agonizing it was barely worth it to see the action.

Non-news. This was pretty much implied already. Although Hans Zimmer scoring the Superman reboot is news. He did good work on TDK although he did get shafted out of his award. Hopefully this time he won't be.

slightly disappointed. but like one of you said (to lazy to look back down to see who) nolan leaving isnt totally unexpected, he cant be flying around to both sets, but i guess a phone call of text would've been nice. but if the nolans wrote the screenplay and snyder is still on, im still watching this, i trust nolan and i've liked every movie snyder has done. so i say lets do this and hell yea to hans zimmer!!!

  23. Cartman

i am infact happy tat Zack is doing this alone, if Nolan is a part of the story then there will be less action and more conversation(which many ppl wld say the story is excellent),.. but for heroes like Superman and Hulk, its the action tat matters morethan story(in tat way Zack is better than Nolan),...

Hmm...I hope the style is nothing like 300 nor Watchmen.... Cause I was expecting it to be done with Nolan's vision of it so, I hope its good and not all blue screen inside a warehouse
