Is Matthew Goode Superman?
Despite being British (hey, that didn't stop Andrew Garfield from winning the coveted role of New York born and breed Peter Parker in Spider-Man 2.0), Goode looks the part of Daily Planet reporter Clark Kent. And the duality he expressed in bringing Watchmen superhero Ozymandias/Adrian Veidt to life is certainly essential in carrying the dual personality of Superman/Clark Kent to the screen. But his physique isn't up to Superman's costumed-body standards. That is not a concern of Snyder's, who, according to this particular account, is going to render Superman's muscular body in CGI, ala The Green Lantern.
Having Superman be a CG enhanced character certainly gives the casting director a wider birth in choosing who'll next wear that S on their chest, but is it what the fans want? Or are we being led to another disappointing installment of the franchise in-line with Superman Returns? This news has in no way been verified by official sources, but it is known that Snyder likes to work with actors that he has enjoyed directing in the past, and Matthew Goode is someone who got along well with Zack's "enthusiastic" approach to movie making.
Casting Matthew Goode as the Man of Steel sounds about as plausible as casting John Cena, but you never know what is going to happen in Hollywood. We'll be sure to alert you as soon as a new Clark Kent is officially announced (we're personally betting on Joe Manganiello).
Man of Steel comes to theaters June 14th, 2013 and stars Russell Crowe, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon, Laurence Fishburne, Christopher Meloni. The film is directed by Zack Snyder.

Cory Monteith has the height but I don't see Superman when I see him... He would have to bulk up big time! I mean he would have to work harder at bulking up then even Brandon Routh did.

Cory Monteith from Glee should be the next Superman. He's young enough for a reboot and fits the image. He could play Superman for the next ten years

SUPERMAN PLOT DETAIL RUMOURS EMERGE & IS ANNE HATHAWAY THE LEAD CONTENDER FOR LOIS LANE?
New rumours about Zack Snyder's Superman: The Man of Steel have emerged.
According to What's Playing, The Man of Steel will focus on Supermans's early days, and will feature him becoming involved with a struggle between two tribes in Africa.
He then returns to Smallville to learn about his origins after he uses his powers to help settle the dispute.
With David Goyer (The Dark Knight) as screenwriter and Christopher Nolan producing, The Man of Steel is expected to repeat the success of the pair's Batman reboot.
Though we're in early days, this 'returning to his roots' plot sounds a bit familiar. Almost as if it's been a TV show...
Another tidbit chruned up by the rumour mill is Anne Hathawayto play Lois Lane, although you'd imagine pretty much any age-appropriate actress is in with a shot.
Superman: Man of Steel is set for late 2012.

"going to render Superman's muscular body in CGI, ala The Green Lantern." that just made me both laugh, and cry... WOW talk about bad idea for Superman.
Looks like this one's gonna suck too, and this guy Matthew Goode looks NOTHING like Superman... Not even f*cking close.
If he gets cast, and they "CGI" Superman It will be lame as f*ck!

I am just worried that they will Screw something good up. I believe BR should be back in this next movie to be honest. He did a great job In superman returns. From all rumors and possible suggestion that might happen with this new movie i think things can go bad quick. I love Supeman to death and am passionate about it. I want this to be the best superman movie and i want it to carry on for more. I wish i never read any threads about what might happen with it.

Spongebob Squarepants? It's Chris Nolan, the smartest man in Hollywood, who brought Batman back from the ashes and turned him back into a profitable and even Oscar-worthy franchise; and Zack Snyder, a visual-wizard who, like him or hate him, has shown he loves the source material he adapts from. Snyder won't have a single story to adapt from here, so he'll have to get creative with the script. It'll be interesting to see what he does.
By the way, when I said "he knows what he's doing" I meant in regards to the CGI. But yeah, I think he has a good idea of what this franchise needs in order to thrive once more.
And how the f*ck do you get Spongebob Squarepants out of this? Was that idea of sarcasm? It doesn't even make any sense. It's so f*cking random.

LMAO...."IT'S ZACK F*CKING SNYDER!! HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S DOING WHEN IT COMES TO THIS KIND OF THING." OMG have you seen this guys movies, They are f&$ked. Superman Is the pinicle of the super heroes and it needs to be represented by the right team and a good story. CURRENTLY, the SPONGE BOB SQUARE PANTS team they having working on the project are going to kill superman. Doesnt matter who plays Superman really and long as it is done right, and sorry it wont happen

@JasonKat: "i dont like the idea that they want this new superman to b sumwhat like the hulk. a nerdy guy by human and a big buff super hero by suit." No where does it say that. No where does it say he'd look like the Hulk. The Spartan warriors in 300 would be more like it because IT'S ZACK F*CKING SNYDER!! HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S DOING WHEN IT COMES TO THIS KIND OF THING.

@Cartman: Do your homework before you try correcting me. They worked out, but they were also enhanced using CG, and it worked out fine. So I don't see the problem here.

Well you pretty much nailed what I was going to say lol.
But wasn't some parts of Routh normal, like when his hovering, that was just wires, its when he was flying fast its all CGI enhanced etc

He'd be a great Clark Kent.
But who's gonna play SUPERMAN? LMAO
Kidding - I like Matthew Goode as an actor. He'd be able to pull off that quiet, slightly-distant from the rest of us persona really well...not sure about Superman himself though. But that's probably because I judge all newcomers against Christopher Reeve...
I'm still hoping for Routh who I thought was a great Superman and rather underated for whatever reason, but like Narrator said it's a reboot. I don't expect to see any of the "old" faces back.

@Insert, f*cking A! I've seen no more than 8 intelligent comments posted on this thread, due to the ridiculous and repetitive "skinny" excuses, and the Welling/Routh/Reboot argument. I wonder if half of them even read the article, or if they just saw the title and picture. Sheep, the lot of them.
@Cartman, the actors did have a work out regimen to bulk up, as Insert stated. However, they were all enhanced by CGI. Get your facts right man.
Anyways, my same comment still applies here.
All you folks going back and forth over the ridiculous Routh/Welling/Reboot argument, drop it. Some people are seriously block headed, and won't except the fact that a REBOOT, means a clean slate, a fresh start. We're not talking about Leonard Nimoy in Star Trek, where it's more a cameo, and a necessary addition to the film. No, we're talking about a full reboot, and you folks wanting a tv actor and/or an actor from a previous films series to reprise the title role. Think guys. You simply can not except the fact that the ONLY Superman you've seen in this decade is not going to be on the big screen. get over it. You're taking up too much space on this f*cking thread as is.
The argument at present is about the use of CGI for Superman. Again, I completely agree with Inserts comment. If Nolan see's it necessary, then I am definitely alright with the CG'd suit, because it would be for a reason. They aren't throwing it in there, just to piss off fans. There's a reason behind it. Obviously they will cast someone who is pretty buff, or willing to get there in a set amount of time. But I would not mind a little CG enhancement on the actors physique to make it look better. It's not like they're going from a skinny ass actor to a huge big buff guy. Use your heads folks.

Totally agree with @DoubleR0522 about Welling obviously im bias and @Jacob89 if Tom didn't get it i wouldn't mind seeing Jared take a stab at it. I would find it kinda ironic that a star "Jensen from Supernatural" was offered the role of Clark Kent on Smallville after Welling turn it down and that in turn Jared would get it

@Cartman,
(insert username here) is right about 300. They were CGI enhanced, just maybe not in the way you are thinking. The guys in 300 were as bulky in real life as they appeared on screen, but CGI was used to make them look more defined. On another note, your comment about Tuberculosis is awsome, there is no way that a rumor like this is founded anyway. I think when it's all said and done they will find a well built guy, who can also pull of the mild-mannered look. I don't doubt they will do something like CGI enhancement to make Superman a little more "ripped", but I don't think they will take a skinny actor and turn him bulky.

I hate when all the smart comments get buried by a page of dumb comments...then even more dumb comments show up because clueless people's minds can't be changed by the smart comments...sigh.
Again, it wouldn't be a CGI suit like GL if what's being stated here is accurate. MW was wrong in comparing it to GL. They should have compared it to Snyder's other films like 300, where he physically enhanced the actors' physiques to resemble Spartans, and Watchmen, in which he rendered Dr. Manhattan's body using motion detection and CGI. I assume the suit would still be worn by the actor, but the physique would be touched up using CG.
