John Cena considered for Superman?
Now Examiner National has thrown another name into the ring with WWE Superstar John Cena, who is also rumored to be up for the part. This has also lead to speculation that Dwayne Johnson may be gearing up for the role as well. Both wrestlers-turned-actors certainly have the physic for Superman, but they may be too hulked out to portray mild mannered reporter Clark Kent in a realistic light. Though it is too soon to rule out any possibility.
Casting rumors will be all over the place, and as evidenced by the rumor above, bordering on ridiculous, until an official announcement is made. Bryan Singer, director of 2006's Superman Returns, recently caught up with Coventry Telegraph to add in his two cents about this upcoming reboot, and why he opted out of directing a sequel:
"At the time I left, it would be more odd than it is now. Because it's been four years, my brain is so occupied. I'm sort of like a tennis ball - I bounced from the X-Men to Superman and back to X-Men so I've been in that world a while, and then I'm doing this other film (Jack the Giant Killer) at Warners, which is where I did Superman Returns, so I'm with the same people. So now it (the new Superman film) makes sense. It's a movie I would want to see, I think Zack's so talented and I applaud Warner and Legendary for choosing somebody who's a filmmaker and not necessarily just a shooter. It's Superman, it's gonna be made over and over in one form or another, and I'm sure Zack won't be the last person to touch it either, so in a way it's not in my mind any more. It would have been two and a half years ago."
Superman was released December 15th, 1978 and stars Marlon Brando, Gene Hackman, Christopher Reeve, Ned Beatty, Jackie Cooper, Glenn Ford, Trevor Howard, Margot Kidder. The film is directed by Richard Donner.

Bring back Brandon Routh for Superman. He is perfect for both the characters of the Man of Steel and reporter Clark Kent. No offence but John Cena is just perfect in WWE or as a US Marine in the movies.

Might I be the first to say that if they are using CG to make up Superman in costume is it too much to think they would actually use it for Kent instead with a bigger actor. Making him smaller as Kent! this would make the action sequences easier to manipulate and be cheaper than the other way round considering Superman will have more screen time than Kent.
As for this choice, He's doing OK but Nooooooo.

theres a reason vince is putting out cena's films direct-to-dvd, cause they dont sell much they dont make enough money (at the movies) so placing him as superman would suck too. because that movie isnt gonna sell either. might as well make a superman direct-to-dvd. but NOO i like routh. he did a great job, superman doesnt really need to change, he just needs more bad guys to deal with. less of a love story and more of an actation. saving the city type of movie. and by that i mean byeveryday bad guys, not sum powerful badguy who can fly just like him.

I think I'd accept that news of Patrick Wilson as Supes over this garbage. :P But considering its a "rumor", much like a lot of the other casting news, and nothing else there's not really much you can get mad about. Still, if this WERE true, it would prove that Christopher Nolan definitely is NOT in charge of any movie-making decisions and that it is in fact, all on Snyder.
And again, if it were true, I think there are plenty of other more viable (much more viable) actors who are actually well-suited for the role in a more believable way... Or believable way, period.
